Issue 1 Downtime

A familiar looking person is sitting at a lab bench, hunched over a microscope. She's wearing what could technically be called a lab-coat though really, there's not nearly enough fabric to offer much protection. That and the boots seem to suggest it's more for show than anything. Holding out her hand without looking up from the microscope she yells.

"Staining solution, Will. Now! Not going to ask you again!"

"Yes! Yes yes, right away," Will said, sprinting over, frantically reading labels as he dashed.

"Still waiting..." she says, her voice cold.

"Yes! Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes!" Will said, finally getting one and handing it over. "Here you go, Sara..."

"Took you long enough." she points out as she adds a couple of drops to the slide under the microscope. There's a bit of smoke and whatever is on the slide makes it jump a bit, cracking the glass.

"Interesting..." she mumbles to herself, leaning back to take a couple of notes.

"Interesting....good?" Will asked.

"Just interesting. I need another sample." she says, handing Will a scalpel.

Will started with a tiny, tiny sigh, and lopped off the tip of his finger.

Sara picks it up and scrapes part of it onto a fresh slide. "Go dispose of that." she says, handing him back the rest.

"Of course," he says, walking over to an...oddly shaped handle, pulling it open, and disposing of the previous slide in a big ball off fire, before slinking back over to Sara's side.

Meanwhile Sara has been adding a series of solutions to the slide while looking at it under the microscope. This time nothing happens.

"Curious. It knows all this stuff is harmless because the source of the sample knew this time around."

"...is that good?" Will asked, hesitantly

"It means your body is smarter than you are half the time."

"Oh....well, I, uh, try?"

"Congratulations. You want a medal for that?"

"....no, Sara, of course not. I'm sorry..."

"Maybe you'll get it if I show you." she says, standing up. She walks over to an about waist-high tank and opens the lid. Greeted by a thick cloud she reaches into the liquid nitrogen with her hand shifting to stone. After some searching around she pulls it out again, holding a small vial, her arm steaming from the cold. After letting it thaw a bit she scrapes some of the contents onto yet another slide.

"Go ahead and sit down, take a look."

Will sat down in front of the microscope.

"All...all right..." he said, handling the scope gingerly.

Leaning over his shoulder Sara adds a drop of a harmless chemical to the sample on the slide. After a moment the sample reacts as the first one did by trying to move away from the chemicals and breaking the slide in the process.

"Just a couple cells by themselves are dumb. They don't know what that chemical is so they treat it with caution by default. Unless they're taken from one who knows they're harmless, then that knowledge is imprinted on them somehow..." she whispers into his ear while her still flash-frozen finger traces a line down his back.

Will sucked in breath as the freezing cold went down his shirtless spine. "y....yes, that m...makes s....senssssssse..."

"I just need to figure out how." she goes on, accentuating the last word by grabbing Will's butt.

"GAHhhmmmff.." Will shouted, before biting his lower lip.

"Tsk... That didn't sound like 'Thank you' at all."

"T...thth.th.THAannnk yyyooouuuuu..." he stuttered out---I mean, her hand was still very, very cold. And grabby.

"Not that hard now was it?" she smirks and finally lets go of his butt.

"Nnnn..no Sara. Of...of course not, Sara," he whimpered.

"Good." she grins and pulls him into a rather forceful kiss.

'MMMMM!Mmmmmmm..." he said, startled, and then getting into it.

After a while she pushes Will away and backs him into a wall, already shrugging off her labcoat.

Sara straightens her clothes and picks up Will's.

"Go get yesterday's samples, will you." she says rather unceremoniously.

Will picked himself up from the floor, popping a little bit.

"Y...yes, Sara," he said, stumbling off, clothesless.

"The ones in the lower incubator." she shouts after him without turning around and goes back to work.

Val walked into the room right as Will stumbled out past her. She smirked, admiring the view a little as he darted away.

"Sometimes I think you like having a lab bitch a little too much."

"Yep. Still jealous." she grins as she looks up from her work.

"Okay, maybe a little," she replied, sauntering over. Her presence increased the temperature around Sara ever so slightly. "What're you working on?"

"The usual. So keep your nose out of things you don't understand anyway." she smirks, swiveling around on her hair.

Ash plumed out of her nose as she snorted out her ire. "Watch your tongue. I'm not some little gimp like him."

"I have no interest in wrecking my lab proving you wrong, so I guess you win this one."

Speaking of whom, WIll came back in, pushing a trolly.

He had not stopped to re-dress himself.
