The Sparring Room

Of course they had a sparring room. They needed to sharpen the ol' axe every now and again, didn't they?

Will, who had wandered around and gotten lost, entered, looking around.

The door closed behind him.

"So."

Talisean looked at him, oddly.

"Yeah..."

"Um, I know this is awkward, but we should make the best of it...I've got so much to ask..."

"Save it. Looking at you makes me sick. I should have left you out there to deal with the sentinels," he said, snarling.

"Wh...wha? That's uncalled for! Plus, if I died, sucks to be you, right?" he protested.

"That's right--plus, someone's gotta watch over Sara. I'd do it, but I've got family here, and I couldn't leave Robin behind. And, really, all things considered, you do EVENTUALLY get your shit together. It just takes you far, far, far, FAR too long.

Because you're an idiot. I look at you and see every last mistake, every stupid dead end followed. I see the death of our friends.

But you don't want to see that, either, do you?"

"I do my best," he said, straightening up, and looking his future self right in the eye. "I try my hardest. What else could you ask."

"Prove it," Talisian said, moving into a fighting pose.

Will looked around, a little stunned, and then removed his shirt. "Alright...uh...what's the rules? How do I win?"

Well, this should be interesting.

Ronin stood on the observation deck and, appropriately, observed the happenings below. He tended to come and go as he pleased, missing most of the drama of the day. All he really knew was that they had some new guests and that they had caused a bit of a stir.

With that, Will lunged forward, aiming a kick towards Talisean's head.

...but the head wasn't there anymore, as Talesian shifted down, his body flowing like water as it slipped through Will's legs and ended up behind him, giving him a kick in the butt which was enough to send Will stumbling off balance.

Talisean shifted his weight from foot to foot as he thumbed the side of his nose, waiting.

Will hit the ground and rolled through, sending himself bouncing off one of the walls and hurtling back towards Talisian, who opened a hole in his chest where Will was coming, sending him hurtling off the OTHER wall, back towards Talisian, who cleanly leapfrogged over him, and landed in time to give the re-ricocheting Will a solid-oak-tree swing to the face on the third ricochet, for that's what Taliesin had shifted his arms into.

At some point Sara had walked up to the observation window next to Ronin and is watching the one-sided match, not without a bit of disapproval on her face, wincing when Will gets hit by the oak.

Talos walked up.

"Don't worry Sara, Taliesin won't hurt Gwion too much."

"Alright....you asked for it..." Will said, picking himself up, and shifting his arms into metal spikes. Charging forward, he headed towards Taliesin.

Taliesin...didn't shift his arms. Instead, he just ducked and weaved, his body splitting when necessary to allow Will's blades to complete their arc, holes appearing when Will tried to thrust through.

Taliesin even shifted away his arms as he worked around.

"Knock knock."

"What, Taliesin made a copy of his older self to spar with?" Ronin asked.

He turned and looked at Sara.

"... you look familiar."

"Dishes FAR too easy," he chuckled, dropping down through the floor and coming out from underneath to flip Will onto his back.

"You're predictable. Come on, USE that head of yours, or I'll take it off. I'm not even trying yet."

Skeiron groaned as he walked into the observation room.

"For all the things Will kicks himself for on a daily basis, he still has those damn awful jokes."

"Right..." he said, pulling himself up..."something different."

He took a few steps back, and then lept forward, flattening out and billowing out like a huge blanket to try to wrap around Taliesin.

"Still not quite it," Taliesin said.

His foot shifted into an intake valve, and he blew out a stream of air...a huge stream of air towards Will, billowing him up like a balloon.

The room wasn't sealed off, airtight or anything, so anyone on the other window would feel a huge draft as Taliesin sucked the air forward to use as his fan.

Ronin pressed an unassuming black button on the comm.

"Yes?" He asked in his gruff, smoker's voice.

Will, believe it or not, had a plan! Taking advantage of Taliesin's admiration of his handiwork, he released all the air out of a tight nozzle behind him--sending him smashing into Taliesin, where he blobbed out, trying to pin him down.

Taliesin, too, spread himself out, and soon the fight became a big lump of clay, thrashing and twirling about.

"What? I can't enjoy the green haired slugfest?" Byrna responded.

The clay, suddenly, shot up, into a large metal box, covered with dials and gears, and slamming metal sounds could be heard, and steam could be seen escaping, gears spinning, motors whirring...

...and out one box popped a small cube, as the metal box shifted back into Taliesin.

"OK, full points there," he admitted.

The box twitched, snapping the two cords that was keeping it bound, and Will reformed--at about 4 inches tall.

"Wh...what the hell?"

"Looking for this?" Taliesin asked, revealing a lump of clay in his hands.

"Oooh..it's so flexible. Brand new, practically. I'm almost envious," he chuckled, working it between his fingers and tossing it from hand to hand.
