She doesn't say anything and at some point just pretends to have gone back to sleep, even though she just ends up staring into the darkness of the room.

Yeah, that's gonna help her deal with it. Being a bitch to her.

Shut up. It's better than leading her on. Like ripping off a band-aid.

Unfortunately for Nailah, Samantha could easily tell the difference.

Though perhaps fortunately, she didn't speak up about it.

She moved the chair away from the cot, but didn't leave the room. They were her quarters, after all. Before long, she herself couldn't resist sleep. One by one the flock came out of her to perch about the room. Their eyes were open, even if hers weren't.

The next morning would find the bed deserted. Her ravens would let Sam know at some point during the night Nailah had gotten up and quietly left the room, only stopping for a moment to glance at Sam.
