Deanna "Valkyrie" Crawford
Name: Deanna "Valkyrie" Crawford
Age: 17
Power: Deanna's power is based in telekensis, but it manifests as a shield. The visual component is a dove-gray or silvery translucence to the air. She can only extend it so far as a perfectly spherical bubble around her body (about 3'10" away) though she can only manage a whole sphere that large in times of abject terror, at this stage in her training, though she's finally figured out how to manifest one of her shields as a sphere inside of her range but without it being around herself per se.
Personality: Deanna had a relatively posh upbringing and it shows in her mannerisms and tastes. Though her mother is dead and her father is very distant, she shed any inclinations toward 'poor little rich girl' after growing up among others similarly situated. She is not given to expressing her anger, but will insert herself into situations where she feel she feels someone needs defending.
Description: Deanna is accustomed to dressing relatively formally. She almost always wears a skirt and blouse, or clothes to that effect. She is of average height for a girl her age, about 5'5. She has dark blonde hair and clear blue eyes, and a build that is a bit waifish.
Background:
Deanna's mother emigrated from Sweden to marry a British diplomat early in the first decade of the new century. She was killed during an attack on public transit when Deanna was barely into her early teens, and she was raised largely by an absentee father and spent quite a bit of time in private boarding schools, where she acquired a remarkable, albeit mundane, skill with tennis. When her father finally discovered that she was a mutant, he barely blinked, simply arranged for her to attend Xavier's University.
Deanna first manifested her power in the same attack that killed her mother, but didn't learn to consciously control it until she was nearly sixteen. For a long time, she could only use her power when she was terrified, but with practice has become more proficient. Her control has not yet reached a stable plateau.
Her mother's old bedtime stories about Norse Mythology led to her to select the name Valkyrie; the quintessential shieldmaidens.
