Name: Ayami "Mood Ring" Morita
Age: 18

Power: Ayami is a projective empath. She can use her abilities to influence and control the emotions of people around her. She can NOT read minds. The more intense the emotion being projected, the harder it is (general happiness is easier than singing and dancing with joy). The more intense the emotion being changed, the harder it is (easier to cheer up slightly depressed man than Suicidal Boy). The stronger the personality, the harder it is. It's also a two-way street--if she's not concentrating, her emotions are affected by the people around her.

Personality: It's hard to get a read on Ayami's personality, because it shifts based on who she's around--around Nina, she'd be a cloudcookoolander, etcetera. This is a direct result of the empathic link--she takes on personality characteristics of the people around her.

Description: Ayami's a shorter Japanese girl, 4'11", with rainbow colored hair. She's used to wearing a uniform, but when in casual clothes, usually goes with knee-length boots and a denim jacket over a black tank top and either a skirt or cargo pants, depending on her mood.

Background: Ayami was born and raised in Kanazawa, Japan, where she quickly fit in. Too much, actually, as she quickly fit in with every group around. Her rapidly changing personality and disruptive influence on classes caused her to be sent to progressively more secluded academic high schools, before being shipped off to Xavier's to get a degree in Psychology.

Just a minor thing I thought last night, what happens if she's among multiple people experiencing strong but different emotional states? For example, being in a room with a person who's extremely angry and another who's very scared? Does her emotions get mixed up between the two or is it random?

It's not a problem, just something I'm curious about.

It would cause a bit of a confused mental state; depending on the exact circumstances (again, strength of personality and whatnot), she could get most of it from one or another (if, say, one really dominant personality is angry and a more mild one is scared, Ayumi'd get angry), or it could be a mix if they're about equal (fight AND flight reaction)

Coolbeans. It's a solid application for a tricky character. Looking forward to seeing how this one plays.
