Neferet Ramses

by Neferet Ramses
Name: Neferet "(I don't have one yet...)" Rameses
Age: 19
Power: Feline Shifter. She can shift from the form of a large cat of prey to the body of a human. The cat of prey she takes the form of is a powerful lioness. The strangeness of this is that she thinks like a human when she is shifted into her feline form.

Neferet has the special advantage than most shifters of having some of her feline traits available for her to use at will when she is a human. It has taken her several years to perfect their use and hone her skills with them. Seeing in the dark or low light is not a problem for her, nor is balance. If she wasn't opposed to wearing spandex, she would have been a gymnast. Her strength and speed is equivalent to that of someone her size; the feline mutation does not give her a strength or speed boost as a human and she cannot sprout claws or fangs at will unless she becomes the entire lioness. (Yet, BWAHAHAHA *snort*)

Personality: Neferet has a bit of a snobbish streak in her, as she thinks herself a descendent of a goddess. Her cat-like nature doesn't help this streak any, as she considers everything and everyone that she desires belongs to her. Arrogant to the core, she does have a few good qualities that endear her to those she adores. Loyalty and uncomparable courage when she or those she is close to are threatened, come to the forefront of her personality at times of stress.

Description:
Human: Dark Brown curls and gray eyes with a bit of a ruddy-to-tan complexion/skin tone. Lithe build, curved figure of about an average height, 5' 6" and weight of around 130lbs.

Lioness: Tan fur color on her back and front of her limbs and a pure white on her underside and back of her limbs. Her tail is pure tan all the way down to the last 2 inches which are a tuft of dark brown fur. About 3.5 feet from floor to shoulder, 5.5 feet long from nose to base of tail and 37 inches of tail at a wieght of 300lbs. Her Lioness form is leaner than most you'd find in the wild, but she can run faster. Her powerful form is pure muscle and if once gets the chance to look at her eyes, they will notice that the pupil is not vertical like all cats' and the color is gray, not yellow.

~Born June 23rd, 2002~

The wind howled late that night, snow flying across the windows of vehicles and homes in the gale. A slight figure that was barely visible through the flurries scurried towards a mediocre-styled home and laid its awkward burden on the front step. After knocking firmly, the figure placed something that glittered in the streetlamps dimmed light on top of the bundle and was on its way without a backward glance.

*************************************************

The bundle left on the front step of that orphanage turned out to be a female child with exotically-shaped eyes, her tiny hand clutching the gold pendant left in her wrappings. The orphanage called her simply Neferet, as it was the name on the only thing they could identify her with. A precocious child at best, Neferet was very shy with other children at the orphanage, almost afraid of them.

And almost as a mercy blessing, a young couple took a liking to her when she was four, and adopted her into their lives. Conner and Bianca Ramses doted on the girl, viewing her as their golden child, hope for the future. For about 3 happy years, the Ramses lived in London, until Conner's career path took an unexpected change and all three of them had to relocate to the US.

By the time they moved to Wyoming, Neferet was old enough to start public school. She got along alright, a bit of an arrogant posture to her body language, but nothing too worrisome. Admist all this relocating, Neferet was given a pure white kitten, which she immediately named Puff and took everywhere. The kitten seemed to adore her in return and tolerated the child toting her everywhere.
**************************************************

~On Friday, October 13th, 2017~

Neferet lay on her bed, doodling on her notebook she was supposed to be finishing her Geometry homework on. Puff sauntered in and leaped onto the bed, a full grown cat now and demanded Neferet's attention. She laughed and dropped the pen, picking up the fluffy cat and raising herself from the bed and knocking the notebook and pen to the floor as she left the room, carrying Puff. Puff wriggled free and took off at top speed towards the basement door, hissing and yowling rather insistently.

Neferet opened the door, a little concerned at the odd behavior of her pet before following Puff downstairs. The cat had stopped at the bottom of the landing, fur on end, hissing and spitting violently at something in the dark. Neferet reached the bottom and reached to pick up Puff but froze when she heard a low growl emit from the shadows.

Neferet flicked the light switch on without taking her eyes from the dark corner. When the light came on, she could feel her blood slow as two yellow eyes stared into hers, fangs now visible, dripping with saliva in anticipation of a meal. A coyote. Her eyes flicked to the small window near the ceiling of the basement. It was shattered and she could see now something red and wet glistening on the shards left in the window frame.

It lunged for her and the cat, and Neferet tried to dodge out of it's way, but it's claws slashed at her hip. She cried out when the skin broke and was expecting the teeth to carve into her flesh next, but Puff had launched herself onto the coyote's face and was clawing and biting every part she could reach. The coyote flung Puff off who hit the concrete wall of the basement with a sickening crunch and lay still.

Neferet felt her insides get very hot, and then it spread to her muscles, her bones, finally to her flesh. She was much stronger now, she could feel it. The coyote cowered from her as she opened her mouth.. and a thunderous roar came out of it before she raised a massive paw to smack the coyote aside, like a rag doll. It yelped and tried to escape up the stairs but Neferet showed no mercy and put her teeth to it's throat briefly before it was over.
*************************************************

Neferet's parents came home to their daughter, bleeding from her hip and back, a dead coyote and a dead cat in their basement. When Neferet explained, they looked worried and lightly suggested she see a shrink but she refused. Scared out of her wits, Neferet sought out her own research for help, and stumbled across Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters. Her parents weren't too keen on Neferet moving across the country but against their will, she applied immediately, and found herself in a refuge for once in her life.

As she grew older, the slash marks on her hip and back never went away but became 3 slightly raised lines/scars, hardly noticable unless someone was looking closely. She researched her name, and did her best to find other occurances in history of humans becoming cats. She found that the Ancient Egyptians had several cat goddesses and kept one tiny theory to herself: she might be the reincarnation/descendant of Bast. Bast could become a full cat.

After graduating the school, Neferet found out from her adoptive parents that she was found in London in an orphanage. She decided to go ahead and apply for college at Xavier's University there so she could continue her education while searching for the clues to her past and who she might be.

Ironically, Neferet is striving to be a veterinarian, and now she's found out she's a mutant, she wants to be a veterinarian that specializes in those like her.. animal shifters.

((In reality, she's as human as the next person, with the exception of her mutation gene. And I promise the god complex will not lead to godmodding. I like having her a little messed up in the head.))

Well, like I said, I think the character looks good. I'd be careful how much you do the snobbishness, since your ability to play with people and get theim to play with you is kind of crucial for playing.

Oh you can be snobbish and think of your mutation to be rooted in myths without rubbing it into people's faces too much.

>_>

<_<

She might also recall that Sekhmet could be either a lion headed woman or a lion. Just sayin'. Also, you might want to work out where she was raised and where she was born, as it will make social interaction much easier.

Neferet is a creature of curiosity in her history. She has no recollection of her true past, and has not since she was very young. Assumedly born in the UK she was found in a orphans shelter during a time of war, and adopted by a young couple that were barren. The young couple moved to the US to flee war so she was raised there most of her life.

Is that better? Or did you need more to make it work? I know it's vague in her past details and I kinda wanted to keep it that way.. so she can keep her little mental trip believable for even her subconscious.... for now... hehe

It was very tidy. Sort of a very polite war. Easy to miss.

Yes, but what war? Why was she in the orphanage? The exact details don't matter, but its a good idea to have that worked out.

Especially if you're going to be starting a war in the UK.

Poor Brits. :P

I have no idea why I put a war in that... must've really been hunting for my muse... no worries, he's securely chained to my desk now.

Does that background look acceptable now?
