Power Explanation: Friction manipulation. Zoe can reduce or increase the effects of friction on anything she touches. Most of her practice has been lowering friction but with more concentration she has been able to increase it as well. By default, her power is "always on" and it is only with a minimal level of concentration that she can suppress it. She's quite adept at the suppression so power slips are pretty rare when she's conscious.
Zoe is able to cover moderate areas quite thoroughly; she could make the floor of an average-sized room completely frictionless without breaking a sweat. Larger areas would take greater effort, and the effect would naturally weaken with distance. With great strain, she could cover most of a parking lot, but it would not be as strong and the fringes would only be marginally more slippery than normal.
She can also focus her power on a small object or the like with a great deal of precision. In this way, she can "coat" the inside of a container so it's contents flow out with no residue or one face of an object so it slides more easily. The smaller the area she affects, the longer it will last without continued attention, so she could make a pool ball frictionless for an evening but if she's spreading it out over a room it would only last a few minutes after she stops concentrating.
History: Zoe had a fairly typical, middle-class upbringing. She was active in school sports and a solid B student academically. Her power started to manifest at 15, but it wasn't until her first driving lesson at 16 that it really kicked in. The added stress built up and she felt the steering wheel start to slip, creating a panic that caused her power to flare out of control. Thankfully no one was seriously hurt as the car crashed into another parked vehicle, but from that day on her power was always active.
Her family enrolled her at the Academy of Tomorrow when it became clear what the problem was. Over the next three years she finished up her high school education, started some post-secondary classes, and learned how to control her power. She's friendly enough, usually getting along with fellow students and having a good time without ever really standing out.
Physical Description: Zoe has a unique fashion sense, often dressing like a cross between industrial goth and a reject from Final Fantasy; she finds buckles the least susceptible to wardrobe malfunctions and often wears boots with chunky soles for the same reason. As such, buckles, straps, extra belts, and the like adorn most of what she wears while also serving a practical purpose. Buttons and zippers do not appear in her wardrobe at all. Thick-soled boots also bring her up to nearly average height. Her hair is naturally black but frosted white at the tips. Hazel eyes are occasionally rimmed in black eyeliner, but only when she's certain her concentration won't waver.
