Gerry H."Ropairí" O'Haughan:

Postby Ropairi » Tue Jan 04, 2011 5:57 pm

Name: Gerry H. O'Haughan
Codename: Ropairí
Country of Origin: Ireland, UK
Age: 20-something
Occupation: Henchman / thief / toadie

Power Explanation: Acoustal mimicry / Auditory illusions

  • Gerry has the ability to perfectly mimic almost any sound he hears, whether it's something as simple as a doorbell or complicated like a collission between two vehicles. His voice is quite powerful and is able to be loud enough that almost any noise he makes is extremely convincing. The only sounds he cannot mimic at the drop of a hat is a person's voice, though he does have his methods.
  • Gerry can only mimic someone's voice by stealing it from them. To do this he has to make physical contact with the person, the quickest way being for him to place his hand or hands on their throat. This can be quite painful if done quickly enough and renders the person completely mute for hours afterward. During the time that they are mute Gerry is able to perfectly mimic their voice, accent and speach habits in every last detail, though when not "working" he tends to speak using a lot of low-class Irish slang.
  • While not a part of his mutant powers itself, Gerry's unique mutation has allowed, and spurred, him to become an exceptional ventriloquest. He is quite adept at throwing his voice a fair distance without moving his lips (about five to eight feet) to over forty feet with his mouth open.
  • The biggest disadvantage of Gerry's power is that unless he has stolen someone else's voice he is unable to speak.

Description: A slightly scuffy-looking young man who looks and dressed somewhat like a street urchin or chimney sweep from any lay or broadway production of Oliver, though much cleaner. He can also be found in the standard London tough garb of trainers, grey sweats and hoodie, or track clothes. He is quite fond of his baker boy hat which hides his medium-length brownish-reddish hair and has green eyes. When working a job with cameras involved his disguise of choice is a mask crafted from a plastic grocery bag with holes cut out for the eyes, ears and mouth and tied up in the back; they totally disguise his features and are easily disposed of as there are always plastic bags and other rubbish lying around the streets of London making it nearly impossible to find any he has used.

Background: The son of a supporter of the former IRA, Gerry had an unexceptional childhood in Dublin's lower class. Not the happiest of childhoods; his parents fought constantly instead of getting a divorce and being made fun of by the other kids for being poor didn't help him much. But he managed to make a few friends and life on the wrong side of the tracks toughened him early. Not always out to pick a fight he was always quick to end them.

Things changed for the worse when his powers developed. Suddenly rendered mute with the exception of various noises and sounds he was soon ostricized by a biased, mutant-hating Catholic society. He was constantly rediculed by the other students at school as well as being harrassed and unfairly punished by teachers who believed he was simply showing off and being a disturbance instead of speaking. The plummeting grades and constant fights at school got him expelled which only worsened matters at home. After his father got drunk one night and beat him senseless with a belt, Gerry stole what little money he could get his hands on and ran away from home at the age of 14. It wasn't long before he found his way to London, living on the streets and getting by as a makeshift street performer, thief and pickpocket. Already hardened as a child he's become a very capable thief and all-around henchman, making up with street smarts what he lacks in a formal educations. One would be wise not to underestimate him simply because he tends to speak in boings and whistles.

Author's note: This is not an application for a student but rather a recurring minor villain. He is, essentially, a henchman, stool pigeon, etc.
