Waiting for Violet, Daphne was walking through the lawn in a cute skirt that came down to her ankles, a tank top, and nothing on her feet. Granted, a pair of sandals was sitting by a backpack that was resting against the stairs, but she sure wasn't wearing them. She looked up over the tops of her sunglasses as she skipped through the lawn, just enjoying the feel of the grass under her feet.

Violet caught up with her pretty quickly, smiling at the girl.
"Sorry. Didn't mean to make ya wait long."
Violet was dressed pretty conservatively, as usual. Nice khakis, blouse, sweater vest, and comfortable shoes.

"Nope! Waiting's fine! It's a nice day!" Daphne said brightly walking back over and slipping into her sandals. "Did you have a big breakfast? Might be a while before we do lunch! And I sure didn't pack a dinner!"

"I'll be fine," Violet says, "I don't actually need to eat anymore anyway. I just do it for fun."

"Oh! Well okay, that makes things easier!" she decided, putting the backpack on. "Now... let's see... Ah! That's right! Forest's that way!" she said, in an 'onward!' sort of voice.

"So, we're going to hike through the woods?" Violet asks curiously, following after Daphne.

"Mmm, the woods. And there's a field on the other side of it. And there's a lake just past that. And after that, I don't know! So we'll have to find out!" she said brightly. "I would've looked farther but it's no fun to go all by yourself for that long. And now I don't have to!"

"So what's it feel like to be stone?" she asked curiously as they found the path into the woods.

"Kind of heavy," Violet says, "Like, not hard to move or anything, it just feels...heavy."

"What about when you're a blanket?" she asked. "Do you feel comfier? Well, I mean, I know you feel comfy, but does it feel comfy to you?"

"Not exactly," Violet says, "It just feels soft. I don't know if I can explain it. I mean, what does it feel like to walk through walls?"

"It kind of tickles," she said. "Unless I go through a power line in a wall, then it really tickles. And... kind of... Well, can you feel the breeze blowing on you right now? Well, I can feel it blow through me. How wild is that?" she answered with a grin.

"That is pretty neat actually."

"On the other hand, I also get to fall through floors, so it's a mixed bag," she giggled, walking through a low-hanging branch.

"That does sound kinda inconvenient," Violet says, "But it is really neat!"

"It doesn't hurt. I mean, even when I fell through two floors, it's just kind of a 'whump' like if you fell out of bed. Sometimes I kind of fall in slow motion, though. The other day I fell through the shower room like that, it was kinda funny. Everyone just kind of stops and watches me drift down and I'm just blushing and waving like 'Oh, uh... hi... sorry!'" she giggled.

Violet laughs, "That would be pretty embarrassing."

She grinned. "Nah, it was just funny. You just knew each of them was going to be telling his friends 'And then some girl just floated through the shower!' and they were all going to be like 'Ummm... yeah right!'"

"Well maybe being embarassed is fun and I just don't know the difference!" Daphne said cheerfully.

Daphne giggled. "Or maaaaaaybe I just know better than to get embarassed," she teased back.

"Don't you think it's good to get embarrassed sometimes?" Violet says, "I mean, it's like guilt. It can be good for you."

"Why? I mean... if something's bad, you don't do it. Being embarassed is just people's way of worrying too much about what other people think about something that doesn't concern them," she said matter-of-factly.

"Okay, like with what?" Daphne said, genuinely interested, as she turned around, walking backward in front of Violet with a grin on her face, the occasional branch or other plant passing through her as she went. "What should I get embarassed about?"

"Okay. Well, what kind of things have you been embarassed about?"

"All sorts of things," Violet says, "Being too loud, wearing certain clothes, overhearing the wrong thing, walking in while people are changing, eating too messily....It's a pretty big list."

"Well, why? What's wrong with being loud? If you're too loud, someone tells you and you quiet down! Everyone does it," she said with a shrug.

"If someone has to tell you, you're kind of being inconsiderate," Violet says, "For every person that speaks up, there's lots of people that will sit there and not say anything even if you're bothering them."

"You're not being inconsiderate, you just didn't know. It's inconsiderate if you keep doing it after they tell you. Or don't leave when you figure out that you can't keep it down. And then that's just guilt because you did something wrong." She shook her head. "Nah. What else've you got?"

"Ignorance isn't an excuse for not empathizing with people," Violet argues, "That's just a rationalization to be selfish."

"How is it selfish to not know that someone wants you to be quiet before they tell you?" Daphne countered. "You empathize with people by doing what they want when you're given a verbal or a visual cue that you need to. Expecting people to know what you want without telling them is just an excuse to blame someone else for you being cranky."

"It isn't my place to judge whether you're wrong or right," Violet says, "''And why beholdest thou the mote in thine brothers eye, but considerest not the beam in thine own?'"
