Issue 1 Downtime

Derek held the door open for Chloe, trying to feel as enthusiastic about this date as he had when he'd left his room today. Before he'd found out that she'd double-booked him, that is. "I hope you like it," he said, quite honestly. "I've never been to any place like this."

"I guess you can't really go wrong dipping stuff in cheese and chocolate, right?" he said, smiling a little.

"At the same time?" Chloe asked. "That doesn't sound especially tasty."

He chuckled a little despite himself. "Well, I don't know, maybe there's some cheese that goes really well with chocolate. It's probably French."

"Maybe, but I don't think I'd care for it." Chloe replied "I'd rather have fruit."

"Its always nice to try new things." Cloe said. A bit hesitantly, she put her hand on his arm.

She'd feel Derek tense, but not make a move to dislodge her hand. And after a moment, she'd feel him reach over with his other hand to lay it on top of hers as they waited to be seated.

Derek hesitated, since he had been, and still kind of was, angry about the whole thing. But... well, it was Chloe. He couldn't say he was surprised. "It happens," he said simply.

He couldn't help smiling at that. "And you're special, too," he said, leaning down to kiss her cheek, perhaps a bit closer to her ear and neck than could be considered a 'friendly' kiss. "Who am I kidding, I can't get mad at you," he said, smiling a little more. Or stay that way, at least.

"I wasn't going to take the conversation there, but if YOU really want to..." he teased, sliding his hand back over hers as he looked at the menu. "You do look great tonight, though," he added, steering things back down a more not-totally-sexual avenue.

Derek smiled, his hand slipping around hers while they looked over the menu. "See? Adorable," he teased as he started to decipher what was offered. Damn... and I've never heard of some of these cheeses...
