Issue 1 Downtime

The night was bright and the Quad was empty. A small flickering light zipped back and forth.

Cal was walking along the path in the grounds, when a dart of light was detected in his vision. He isolated it, zoomed in, then smiled, heading over in the direction of the dancing light.

Tink was playing with a miniture set of poi, using the fire to create intricate patterns across the night.

"Hey there Stalky McStalker!" She grinned.

"Showing off? Moi? Never!" Tink chuckled as she threw the poi skywards and spun in a few lazy horizontal pirouettes before catching it on the way down.

"Where is your Mr Roboto self off to tonight then?"

"Just walking. Too early to sleep, just thought I'd get some air. Then I saw my favorite little butterfly and thought I'd see what she was up to."

"Of course I sleep," Cal said, a little surprised. "Well... ah, not as much as most people, I guess."

"Cool.. do you dream of me then?" Tink chuckled. She spun the poi towards Cal with a smirk as she perched on his shoulder.

"Sometimes. It's... kind of hard to tell," he said. "It's... like all radio, at least as far as I can remember it. Dreams are from my real brain... and I can't think in pictures with that anymore."

Tink was a little bummed by that but she made a valant attempt not to let Cal know. Her poi went out and she threw them down to the ground and flittered around in front of Cal's face.

"You ever flown?"

Cal looked at her, quirking an eyerbrow. "Somehow, I don't think you mean in a plane," he said, smirking. "So no."

"Maybe you should consider some upgrades then? Turn yourself into a jet or something?"

"Yeah, they said that I'd need to lose a my legs or a good chunk of my torso to put anything for flying in. ANd I'm kind of partial to my original parts."

"Think you can do them while flying?" Tink gave her wrist a flick and slipped off Cal's shoulder with a chiming giggle.

Cal looked down, then did a panicked sort of 'run in place' as he tried to stay upright.

Millions of dollars worth of cybernetics and sensors... and you can't tell me that I'm four feet above the ground?

"Holy shit... I didn't know you could do that," Cal said, trying to adjust himself to this new development.

"Tell you what, you find a nickname to replace 'C3P0' and I won't tell people that you've got the magic fairy dust to take people to never-never land," Cal smirked. Experimentally, he tried gliding forward and found that he could... although a bit clumsily.

"Oh, really? Well, then I guess there really is no reason for me to keep it secret," Cal said, smirking, as he swerved through the air after her. He knew he couldn't catch her, but it was still fun to try.

"You won't tell anyone." Tink said certainly. She did a series of intricate loops as she flew, showing off her skill but unable to help herself.

"How high would you go?"
