Sept 17 - Lunch

Alex sat down with a ham sandwich and a salad. Eating had been strange since he had awoken. He didn't chew, but rotted his food to digest it. He popped a cherry tomato into his mouth, which was dragged to where a stomach would normally be and attacked by a swarm of mycelium.

Teri enters the dining hall and makes a beeline to the food counter.
Balancing 4 salads and a pile of fries on her tray she spots Alex and makes her way over to him.
"Hey, mind if we sit here?"

"Not at all."

He smiled at her appetite. "Well you're a hungry one."

Sitting down across from Alex she starts shoveling the food into her mouth, ignoring the courtesy of not talking with food in her mouth. "Say, yesterday you mentioned you haven't been like this for long. What happened?"

With Teri's usual neutral expression it's pretty much impossible to tell if she's joking.

He hesitated.

"I was assaulted by some anti-mutant bigots."

She swallows apticularly big bite before going on.
"Did you go back and returned the favour after you woke up again?"

An odd ripple runs through Teri hair as it turns into a spreading cloud of insects for just a second before reforming again.
She seems to be thinking an awfully long time before responding. family scum no! don'tcare meaningless

"It's not even that they came to the conclusion that we couldn't be part of the family anymore. They saw their daughter leave, which we don't even remember, and saw something else that looked like their daughter return. They weren't entirely wrong either, so we don't hold it against them."

Teri nods. "After signing up here and hearing about that school program we've wondered if we would have fared better there instead of the normal school we stumbled through. Propably not though..."
