Computer Lab

Postby Zero » Wed Mar 18, 2009 2:08 pm

Zero could be found in the lab, at one of the terminals the farthest away from the door. Zero seemed to be intently working on something but was keeping a careful eye on whoever came in.

The system that Zero was accessing remotely seemed heavily encrypted. Further, it seemed to be watching for any communication with its information ports.

Zero smiled, seeming to enjoy the challenge, carefully taking time to try to break in with some level of skill.

Getting into the system would prove to be quite a task. The system would query any access attempt, and it seemed to close off ports at whim, and would sever the connection when a query response wasn't exactly what it was expecting.

Noting that subtlety wasn't exactly working, Zero attempted brute force.

At the very least, this produced an effect. There was a loud buzzing sound, before the terminal Zero was at went dead.

Zero sighs, getting up and starting to leave, glancing over at an empty nearby terminal for a moment.

The network seemed to be experiencing... difficulties.

Further examination would show an excess of data spilling over from one of the terminals on the network, forcing itself into the memories of systems it could connect to. For lack of a better term, it was like some computer had thrown up onto the school network, purging its data into it.

Most of the activity seemed to center around that one specific computer on the network, where an extensive backup and recovery process was being performed on a remote system. Work was quick, and the data was removed from the network as it was restored, but there was a lot of it, and it seemed to be recovering essential files and programs first.

Curious, Zero took a seat and started looking through whatever files and information could be accessed, trying to find out what's going on.

The files which were disappearing fastest seemed to be programs that were extremely heavily encrypted. But there was a wealth of other data purged into the computer, including several text files, image files, music files, and a wealth of video files.

Intrigued, Zero opened some of the media files while trying to copy over as much of it as possible. Just in case any of it was interesting.

Zero appeared to have moved just in time. With the programs restored, the data files were next, and they disappeared as quickly as they were re-copied.

All in all, the process only took a few minutes, but that was plenty of time that they were sitting there on the network to look at or copy.

Zero copied as much over as possible and then started exploring the contents in detail, looking for anything interesting.

Given Calvin's habits, he'd find quite a bit interesting. Most notably, the video feeds for rather... intimate encounters he'd had since coming to the school, including Nina, Jessica, and the Jessica/Kevin threesome. Also, he had kept the files from his usual habit of running a background net search for any risque or nude pictures of the girls he met, so there was a potentially large folder of such pictures.

Zero smiled, taking a portable hard drive out of the bag he was carrying and saved anything sordid or personal.

And then Zero got to work, smirking a little bit.

A tall, lean figure walks into the computer lab, lips pursed in a frown. Heels click on the hard floor as she makes her way over towards the damaged computer unit.

The damaged unit wasn't really very damaged, at least not physically. It would likely need a few diagnostics run to be safe, but all it really needed was to have its system restored. Given that this was a lab computer and wouldn't have any personal files or documents stored on it, it probably wouldn't take long to have running again.

Zero smiled at Ms. Chronopolis, disconnecting the hard drive and putting it in her bag.

Binary softens her expression with conscious effort, though her eyes remain large black pools with only a fringe of gray around the edges. As Zero is in the general area and even her impressive power can't get much from a fried unit, she looks over to the student more closely, "Hello Zero. Do you happen to know what happened to this terminal?" She sweeps her skirt under her legs and sits, running fingers over the casing of the damaged unit.

Zero shrugs, "I was trying to use it to get access to a weird system I saw on the network and it went down."

"Sorry if I caused you any difficulty," Zero says with a soft smile.

"Indeed. I had hoped to forstall the need for improved data hygiene, but I suppose these things are inevitable. Pity, I had thought the infrastructure more robust." It's hard to read her expression but she does not press further, instead making sure maintenance come by soon to replace it with a functional unit.
