Sept. 5- The Mutant Studies department

Postby Stan Bowen » Sat Mar 07, 2009 12:12 am

Stanley was a bit overwhelmed.

He still couldn't get over how many resources the X-Corp had been able to provide to the new University. Back in New York, he had one tiny office, filled with research and grad students. Here.. Everyone had their own space.

Waving to the various administration staff, he made his way back to his main office on campus and took a seat behind his oak desk, and checked his messages.

His door remained open.

Merle sauntered by, trying to get a feel for campuses.

He almost walks by before turning and noticing that a professor was here already.

"Oh, hi sir! Merle McClintock, I'm a freshman here...just having a look around." Merle enters if given an opportunity.

He extends his large hand toward the seated gentleman.

Dr. Bowen looks up from his messages, smiling.

"Hello there, Merle. It's good to meet you. Getting the lay of the land, hmm? So am I, to be honest."

"I'm from a small town, so it's really weird to be in the capital...twenty four hour chinese places, strip clubs, all these convenience stores...I just want to stay grounded, you know? I didn't imagine growing up that I'd get to meet an X-man, let alone be one."

Stan nodded, smiling slightly.

"It's a big change for anyone, but for young people such as yourselves it must be pretty overwhelming right now. All I can say is, make the most of the opportunity that's wide open in front of you."

He then stood up, moving some journals to a bookshelf behind him.

"Are you interested in Mutant Studies? Signing up for the intro course?"

"Definitely. It's no galactic diplomacy...I mean, you know what I mean...I'm definitely taking an intro. It's a great field.

What draw you to teach at Xavier's?"

Stan continued talking as he filed the journals on his shelves.

"Well, Professor Xavier called me up just as I had decided to go on sabbatical from my position at Empire State University."

He turned back to Merle, smiling. "It was like he read my mind. He offered to allow me to help shape the MS department at his new school. It sounded like a great opportunity."
