A Quiet Stroll (Issue 1, downtime week 4)

Ms. McManus was back on campus, and was enjoying a peaceful stroll in one of the more secluded regions of the quad.

Eddie was sitting underneath a tree with his eyes closed with Fen nearby, sprawled on the ground and sleeping in his smaller form.

As Ms. McManus approached nearby, Eddie opened his eyes and glanced in her direction, waving at the teacher briefly.

Victoria eyed the... dog? as she walked along the path through the quad, taking in the details of it and filing them away for later. She blinked, feeling a strange... pull from inside her chest, and turning she saw Ms. McManus. Her thoughts seemed normal, but there was a strange feel in her astral presence that began to grow more distinct as she drew closer to Sam.

Ms. McManus raised an eyebrow at Victoria for a moment.

"Good afternoon."

Victoria turned her red-eyed gaze on Sam. "Hello, Ms. McManus," she said. Inside her, the presence rolled and surged angrily, twisting something in Sam's power in return.

Victoria closed her eyes, shivering a little, and when she opened them again, her eyes seemed to glow more brightly. "I... haven't seen you around campus of late. I hope that everything is all right."

"I'm... glad to hear it," Victoria said, seemingly just as disoriented. Uncharacteristically, she staggered, reaching out and catching herself on Sam's arm.

One streak of white worked its way through her hair on the left, while a streak of black wormed in on the right.

Victoria's eyes stayed locked on Sam's, growing devoid of emotion. "...Perfectly," she murmured. Her hair began growing steadily black, from the tips toward the roots.

Another shudder went through Ms. McManus, and her hair was tossed about as ravens emerged from the back of her head, flapping. Actual, physical ravens at that, which proceeded to perch on the tree branches near her. She straightened up and smoothed her hair back down, which was now pure black down the center, red on the right, and white on the left.

She eyed Victoria critically.

"Has he sent you?"

Fen's attention seems to be caught by the exchange by the two, perking up a bit he growls towards Victoria and Samantha before Eddie shushes him. Fen keeps his eyes on the two woman as Eddie closes his eyes and resumes his meditations, apparently choosing to stay out of it for now.

Victoria's hair grew jet black, and her skin slowly began to take a crimson shade. "No one sends me," she answered, a slight sneer in her answer.

Victoria smirked, then reached up, tracing her fingers along Sam's cheek. "What's wrong... aren't you pleased to see us, Mommy?" she answered, this last part sounding sarcastic.

Victoria sneered at her, even as traces of hesitation returned to her posture and expression. "You addressed me, Morrigan. And I'll reply with all of the respect that is due."

The flock surged forward at Victoria, wings flapping, beaks pecking as she was buffeted.

"We are the ones who didn't retreat! We danced on the graves of the Fomori. We slew the king of the Fir Bolg. There will always be war, and there will always be the Battle Crow!"

Victoria looked like she was about to sneer a reply, but as the birds swarmed her, there was a flash of red that shocked into them. As she fell back, her eyes were, once again, her normal, human shade of grey. She looked up, part shocked, part furious, and part utterly terrified at Sam. "What the HELL are you doing to me!" she demanded.

Whatever feedback loop had been generated between Ms. McManus and Victoria was broken, and the ravens were pulled back into her body, her appearance returning to normal. She looked disoriented and quite unsteady on her feet.

Fen's small growl had turned to a deep rumble and he stood at attention, full sized. Eddie was on his feet, moving to the dog's side.
