Jayda sighed.

"No, you guys are right.. He said we couldn't go, guess he thinks that we can't handle ourselves.." Jayda shrugged.

"Oh wait! Thats right! He said we Could go. Its only early still.. 9.30pm or so? With Marcus's power amplification I could have us all there and back again in an instant. That way we still get home before 10 if its a bust..."

"Alright Jayda. If you really want to go I'll help you teleport us there. If shit's crazy though I'm growing giant and tearing down building." He said sternly. He didn't really feel like being in a position where the people around him got hurt. If things turned bad, he'd end up killing every vampire or enemy in the place without much less of a second thought.

Jayda blinked. Looking at Marcus she nodded her head, lowering her eyes to the ground in admonishment.

"Nah, Marcus, maybe you are right on this... " Her voice full of contrition as she downed the rest of her drink. "Its not worth it and we have an assignment tomorrow, I apologise to you all. I guess being tailed so easily earlier stuck more than I thought."

Hope flared for a moment at Talia's words and she had to struggle to push the best choice for the team back to the front of her mind.

"Marcus is right, its probably not worth the risk... I think I need to go take a run."

"That would probably be prudent," she shrugs, apparently not placing a lot of value on prudence, "and if you are on a team anyway, there should be plenty of opportunity for revenge."

"Revenge? No no, you get me all wrong." Jayda put her hands up in the air. "Nothing could be further from my mind than some sort of revenge for a blow to my ego. I take that out on myself, just means I have to push myself more from now on."

"Don't leave though. No one's mad at you for wanting to go. It's just..I'm uneasy about it. I'd rather roll in with a full posse and prepared. I also don't want to fall into their grips and give them more students to fuck around with."

"Yeah..that's true. Having a teacher in the ranks to help us really beat the shit out of them would be awesome. Maybe they'd realize the school itself isn't screwing around by just sending their students to handle them." He smirked. "Then again, the student teams owning probably should make them fear the teachers all the more."

"I might hit the showers then, its been a big night. We should catch up again Talia, you too Rick and Willow. Thanks for dinner, Marcus."

Jayda left the XUB and headed back to the dorm, cursing again the forgotten jacket.

"Sitting down's not a problem, though I'm not looking forward to making the decision as to which shower to take. Otherwise, plumbing seems OK, if unusual.

Yeah, sharing each other's dreams. We were in each other's heads, and got bits and pieces, and this morning..." Will trails off. "Sorry, it's a little...personal, that."

Marcus had an idea of what the dream thing meant but he decided not to voice it. He just nodded his head but made sort of a funny expression at what Will meant about the bra thing. He just chuckled.

"I started into an arts degree at Oxford, in fact, which pleased Daddy to no end. I had to fight with him for weeks to get him to agree that there were unique opportunities to be had here instead, and yes, it was mainly the mutant aspect. I have had some private tutoring in power control, but more of it has come from self-discipline and the fact that accidents tend to be rather.. destructive. I still have to keep a spare cell phone or two in the glovebox just in case. The academic department here seems sound, though no doubt I will have to endure haughty glances for such a close association to a New World institution."

"Yeah. I can see why any parent wouldn't be too keen on that idea of pulling their child out of an already good school for some unknown mutant one. Xavier's has a pretty good name to it regardless. Haughty glances? Is your family or at least associates of them generally okay with mutants?"

"Hmm? Oh, no, the problem is more one of class than mutation. At least mutants can come from good stock, but learning from former Colonials still has some stigma associated with it among certain social circles. If a University has not been established for at least five hundred years it is of dubious quality."
