Danger Room; Sept 15: Team 1 Training

Postby Anita Fernandez » Wed Mar 18, 2009 8:09 pm

Anita opens the door to the main room of the Danger Room and heads in, leaving it in the default state for now. She checks her guns, re-loading the one she unloaded for Kevin to handle.

Slick skates in, then pulls her power back under firm control so it doesn't spread inadvertently. She bounces on the balls of her feet nervously and looks around, "I hope I don't get battered too much. I am a delicate flower."

"Depends. I'm glad we're in the danger room FIRST; I don't think I'll need to do much shifting during the weight-lifting-and-running phase, so it'll give me time to recuperate."

"Excellent, then I can skip the brief about how the room works. Advanced operation isn't the purpose of this training session anyway. During the training, we'll use this room to simulate combat situations in a safe environment, giving you a chance to see real historical combats, and simulated ones in order to hopefully prepare you for what you'll face out there."

"The first day's session is going to be a simple hostage situation in an unspecified war-torn area. Rough terrain to look out for includes building rubble, loose rock, and explosion craters. Your opponents will be simulated skrulls, at a fairly low combat level, though combatants that face Shiver or Seraph will get an instant upgrade."

"You will not immediately know where the hostages are, but the Skrulls will not holding knives to their throats so you don't have to worry about not engaging the enemies, just don't blow up the area."

"Unless I hear any objections, I will make Seraph the leader during this training session. Are there any questions or concerns before we start?"

"All good." She slides her hands along her uniform to make most of it slippery, in case she gets grappled, and boosts the friction on the soles of her boots and palms of her hands. There's not much else she can do to get ready, except look to the new leader for instructions.

"This first session is a hostage situation because we will very rarely send you anywhere with the sole-goal of cracking skulls. There has to be a good reason to crack those skulls, otherwise we prefer to negotiate. In this case, there are hostages to save and everyone hates Skrulls so we can have a good, guilt-free skull bashing."

"We'll begin the scenario now."

"Loading Scenario in Ten... Nine...."

"Two, one.... load scenario."

The scene shifts. The team is on a broken slab of concrete. There are ruined buildings all around, and a few standing ones nearby. Even the standing buildings are gutted. The team is currently in sort of a hollow in the rubble, not able to see much but not visible to the surrounding area. It's not warm, but not cold, the sky is sort of grey.

Things are only that quiet for about 10 seconds, and then an explosion shakes the ground, sounding like it came from somewhere to the Notheast. A plume of dust will give credence to that theory in a few more seconds.

Anita draws one of her guns, extending her power to feel around her, and looking to Ryan for orders.

She thumbs the safety off her gun and chambers a round.

Ryan studied the area to the northeast for a moment, then nodded. "All right, move out. Stay together for now, we don't need trouble popping up while we're split up," he said, indicating the direction they were headed. he took to the sky for a moment to get a better view of what was ahead, though he'd land with the group as soon as he'd had a look.

Ryan can immediately see what used to be a hospital, tucked behind an office building. He may or may not know that because militaries are unwilling to bomb hospitals, they and the buildings around them are one of the few things left standing in an area like this, along with religious buildings.

The explosion came from the hospital itself, blowing out a second story window and part of the wall. As Ryan gains altitude, and the rest of the team comes out of the hole, they can see a couple of bodies in modern combat amor being flung out of that broken wall. The bodies land on an old Russian military truck, and from the way they don't move after landing, they are almost certainly dead.

Zoe sidles along, for once thankful that her diminutive figure makes it harder to see her. She mostly sticks to cover but moves quickly towards the explosion.

Will follows along behind Zoe, before realizing that, considering their respective abilities, he should really be in front of her.

Zoe's impulsive enough to not consider the tactics of who should lead, though Will wouldn't have a difficult time surpassing her short-legged stride.

Anita walks calmly out in the middle of what passes for a road here, making sure her gun is easily visible, since she wants to draw fire away from her companions.

Ryan landed alongside the group. "Target is a hospital, a couple blocks in the direction we're headed," he told them. "From the looks of things, there's fighting going on inside already. We're going to get around back and preferably go through a window near the top of the building since it's less likely to be covered."

He looked at Zoe as they walked. "I need a crash course in what you can do in a situation like this."

"Uh, I can run interference. Glass over a floor so no one can stand, if I can touch a person or a thing I can make them frictionless for a short while, so they can't hold on to anything or stand without effort. Utility-wise, I can make obstacles frictionless so they can be slid into a better position, but they still weigh as much."

Ryan nodded. It was enough for him to work with so that he could apply it to the situation. "Does it work in reverse? And Will, I need to know any limitations you have before we get there. I don't want to ask too much without knowing that I'm doing it."

"All right, I can work with that," he said, as they came up on the office building blocking the hospital from view. "We're going to be in close quarters in there, if that's like any hospital I've been in. Will, can you bulk up enough to cut off any advances down the halls? Or at least make them difficult?"
