"Maybe," Nina says, "Mutant abilities have a tendency to effect the full body. Unfortunately, the research on how abilities affect the brain is limited. I've done some work on it myself, but it's mostly just amateur stuff."
"But basically, your brain is different from other people's as far as your nervous system functions. For example, you obviously have the ability to release some sort of command to the rest of your body to shift back and forth, right? So your brain and nervous system has a slightly different makeup then say, mine. The difference is fine but there."
"It isn't a stretch to assume that your body has a natural function to maintain an environment that a fetus can survive in if you're impregnated, right? After all, procreation is a biological imperative. And a stone womb wouldn't exactly be healthy for a flesh and blood child..."
Nina cocks her head, thinking for a moment, "Of course, that's all just conjecture. Dr. McCoy would probably want to run some tests. I wonder if it's related to changes in hormones signaling the part of your brain that controls your shifting...."
