In Nightcrawler's Will's Mira's office, Mira was sitting behind the desk, musing.
"Robot lady, can you hear me?"

"Of course. Can I be of assistance?" Ashlie's voice comes from a mass of fluctuating geometric patterns made of hard light that takes shape in the middle of the room.

"I've got a few questions I'd like to ask you.
And I'm also pretty thirsty, if you know of a place where I could get a coke."

"Certainly. And there are over 200 million distinct locations in which you could acquire a 'coke'. Twenty-eight only considering Maldon city-limits."

"I am certainly capable of doing so." she says.

"Please do it, then. I'd use my powers, but I'm supposed to be on break."

"I did not realize that you required breaks." she says while her robot body is grabbing a coke in the dining hall and making it's way over to the lighthouse. It takes a while but Ashlie is patient.

"I want people to be happy."
She paused.
"Are YOU happy?"

"I cannot answer that. Insufficient parameters to define 'happy'."

"With life. Your situation.
For a random moment (x), are you more likely to be satisfied or unsatisfied with your environs?"

"I work at or near peak efficiency at most times. I have been given the means to expand my horizon. I am satisfied." she concludes.

"That's good! That's how it should be.
ASHLIE, would it bother you if I said you were not a person?"

"There are numerous parameters to consider and according to a significant number of them I am not a person. Most of those correlate with attributes in which I surpass the average person. I would consider it a compliment."

"I have observed that to some it does. Humans are irrational beings. I have concluded it is because they prefer it to feeling inferior."
The door opens and Ashlie's chassis walks in with a cold bottle of coke. The hardlight construct disappears.

"Mmm. Thank you," she said, unbottling the Coke.
"But like, that, right there. That didn't bug you, right? I asked you a mathematical problem, and then you solved it, and then I told you to do something else, and you did it. I mean, that's what you DO. You're good at it."

"I'm just saying, it's what you were designed for, it's what you do, and there's nothing wrong about that!
Why Sara Stanton reacted so...vividly when I tried to explain these things to her, I do not understand."

"It's not even stagnation! Stagnation is death, after all.
I mean, YOU'RE good. And if Will's on your level, doesn't that mean it can be good too? You don't need to be badge-wearing members of the person society to live full, happy lives. You just have to accept what you are."

"I would question your expertise on the topic because you would be wrong. I also question your metaphor because I do not require an operating system. I create my own native runtime environment."
