Issue 1 Downtime

Ryan was in his room, going over reports and lesson plans, making notes while he waited for his two wayward students to come for an 'official' talking-to. Why couldn't they have gone to the Savage Land when I was sixteen...

Brigid relaxes a little now that her father isn't glaring over her shoulder. She sighs, and plods sullenly towards Ryan's office.

Kay doesn't seem that much more relaxed (but then again, she was spared the worst of Mister Savage). She knocks on the door, but only barely, hoping Ryan might not hear it.

Kay looks at Ryan suspiciously. She's clearly thinking this is some kind of trap. Problem is she's also not sure how to answer without (so she assumes) getting into more trouble.

"That... dinosaurs are dangerous?" she tries.

"All right. Lesson one for doing dumb stuff at this school: If you can imagine some way that things will go wrong, more than likely that thing will happen. If you think there's even a slight chance that aliens will invade where you go, for god's sake, they probably will. So you have to make damned sure you have a plan for it. What would have happened if you'd been swarmed by dinosaurs and hadn't found help?"
