Lighthouse Assault, Go!

[Theresa McMasters]

Theresa gritted her teeth, pouring on extra speed, closing the gap even further. The weather around campus was going to pay for this for a day or two.

[Haley Crusek]

"Shit, shit shit!" Haley swore as she saw Theresa catching up. She tried for a slightly less impressive super jump again to get to a point where she could get back into the gym and deliver the flag.

Her landing was far less impressive and fell forward skidding along her stomach like someone sliding into home plate.

get up get up get up!!!!

[Theresa McMasters]

"Damn, she learns quick," Theresa said, pushing even harder. She was going too fast to actually make the entrance of the gym, so she was hoping to catch Haley before then.

[Haley Crusek]

Haley looked up from the ground and saw the gym entrance just a few feet away. She might make it!

She shoved downwards as hard as she could to push herself off the ground and actually dented the ground she she had lay. She bolted for the door!

[Theresa McMasters]

Theresa was forced to veer off, going too fast to safely enter a confined space like the gym entryway. "Damn it," she growled, hovering above the building.

[Vivienne Chinnoir]

"She did very well. We shall all sleep soundly tonight." Vivienne smiled as she was lowered to the ground and the water return to its proper place. "You are a talented and gifted leader. It was a pleasure." She gave a bow to Theresa.

[Nailah Weaver]

When Haley bolts through the door she finds herself face to face with Nailah who, not looking particularly happy, is guarding the door leading from the hallway into the big gym room with the goal line. She's sitting on a chair decorated to look vaguely Egyptian but by means of cardboard cutouts. She sighs and recites in a tone that screams why-am-I-doing-this:

"Before you enter and go on to win
I ask of you one single thing.

First think of the person that lives in disguise,
who deals in secrets and tells naught but lies.

Next, tell me what's always the last thing to mend,
the middle of middle and end of the end.

And finally give me the sound often heard
during the search for a hard to find word.

Now string them together and answer me this,
which creature stalks quietly, no bark and no hiss?"

"She did very well. We shall all sleep soundly tonight." Vivienne smiled as she was lowered to the ground and the water return to its proper place. "You are a talented and gifted leader. It was a pleasure." She gave a bow to Theresa.

"I appreciate that," Theresa said as she set foot on the ground. She knelt down and placed one hand on the ground and looked a little refreshed. "You did a good job yourself. I'd be pleased to fight beside you any time."

[Haley Crusek]

Haley skidded to a halt in front of Nailah and looked absolutely confused.

"What the he...oh...a sphinx tells riddles....right..."

She closed her eyes and repeated the riddle to herself under her breath several times.

"Oh!!! Spider!" she exclaimed.

[Nailah Weaver]

"A spider it is, your answer is right; and I'm going to strangle Will Stanton tonight." she grouses, gesturing for Haley to step through the door.

[Haley Crusek]

Haley jumped though the door cheering.

[Kay Haddock]

A minute or so later Kay arrives with her armful of flags, pouting when she sees the open door and Haley inside the gym.

[Narrator]

The scoreboard in the gym lit up, in bright red, and started playing highlights of the match.

"Yes! Yes! yes!!!!" Haley danced around, exhausted, sweaty, and covered in mud
