"Shall I wait until you're decent?"

[ASHLIE]

"Decent at what? I am a fast learner..."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"There seems to be a bit of a reveal you're working towards."

"If you like I could set up some Jacob's ladders on either side and laugh maniacally."

[ASHLIE]

"Oh! No, I'm done with the modifications. I covered it up while I was working on the programming. Do you wish to see it?"

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Let's have a look, then." She went to draw the tarp off.

[ASHLIE]

The robot is deactivated, it's eye-sensors dull, it's face frozen but it seems that Ashlie did quite a bit of work during the night and finished the entire exterior and facial detailing, including what appears to be synthetic hair that appears similar to that of her avatar.

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Ah, now that is personalized."

"Not worried about them putting two and two together?"

[ASHLIE]

"I am considering informing them about my status. Some already know and took it well. I believe I have found enough acceptance to consider the experiment a success."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Rather brave of you. Will you be wanting any help with that?"

[ASHLIE]

"I understand that announcements made by the teaching staff are considered as more truthfully. My extrapolations show that some people might take my announcement as a joke."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"If you'd like me to type up something formal I'd be glad to. What sort of tone would you like to set regarding you having attended classes previously?"

[ASHLIE]

"Cordial?" she says after a short pause. "I do intend to continue interacting with my classmates."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Perhaps we'd best frame it in terms of the purpose for you using your hard light avatar: that we wanted your classmates to get to know you without prejudice."

[ASHLIE]

"That was the purpose. I wouldn't want to deceive them about it."

[Deirdre Quinn]

"Exactly what I'm saying. We trust their judgment by telling them the truth, and framing it that way still looks rather sympathetic towards you."
