Hear the Music

Veronica had made her way to the music room, as was her habit about once a week. Today was really no different, but the day itself had a sense of strangeness to it. She couldn't quite place it, but something was just off. Regardless, she began to play the song she had been practicing for a while now, slipping into the flow of the notes where nothing else mattered.

During the quieter portions of her piece, Veronica would likely here singing coming from one of the small practice rooms near the music room: http://youtu.be/Pl7BVr36bbs

It would seem the singer was rather getting into the song given she was hearing him through a closed door.

After Veronica finishes the piece and hears Trev, a big smile gets on her face and she begins to pick up on the song at the piano. Little bits of harmony and the answers to his melody. Apparently she knows this musical well.

After he finished, Trev poked his head out of the practice room to see who had started to give him some accompaniment. "Hey, thanks for that. Hope I wasn't too loud," he smiled.

"That's kind of you--thanks," he smiled a bit bashfully. "Singing is how I learned to control my powers. I'm Trev...Veronica right?"

She nods. "Zat is my name. Trev, eet is a pleasure. You learned through singing? Zat is a most wonderful way to learn from. I envy you, I admit." Veronica says with a laugh, sitting back down at the piano seat.

"Well. My powers come from my voice. Sonic scream. So it makes sense to practice that way," he smiled.

"Ah, indeed it does. Zat has many possibilities, does eet not? Not so much just screaming, but correctly adapting zee pitch to zee situation specifically."

"Yeah, exactly," he smiled. "I can shatter stuff if I hit the right pitch and volume. In theory I can fly...something about manipulating the sound I make. I'm not there yet by a long shot."

"I would imagine eet has to do wis zee sound waves and zee rate at which zey bounce back to you. I am sure eet will come to you in time. Would not be as satisfying if eet were so easy to accomplish, non?"

"Tell that to the bruises I've sustained falling from heights in the Danger Room," he chuckled.

"Zee term for eet is Psychometry. Being able to 'see' zee residual memories in objects..." She says, trailing off for a few moments. "And in my case eet has been changing to extend to people as well. Zough, I am afraid I haf not gained control off zat just yet."

"Noble calling. I'm too impatient, I think."

"...of course, I don't know why I'm looking at teaching if I'm impatient," he chuckled.

"I was required to attend lessons. I suppose zee love off music grew on me." Veronica says with a small shrug. "And yourself? You said eet was with your powers, but when?"

"I started singing my freshman year of high school back home in Chicago. This cute girl a year older than me noticed that I sounded like a 40 year old man even though I was this little freshman, and she somehow convinced me to join choir...fast forward a bunch of years and that girl's my best friend, and we're both here at XU together."
