I13DT - Recharging Batteries

Miranda's energy had finally run out in the common room after an exciting trip to town for some things. She was breathing deeply and her body was relaxed, but her mind was anything but relaxed. There was an open notebook on her lap, but nothing had been written in it as yet. In the Astral, the sound of venting gas might be heard.

Through the open part of the door, Haley could see something that resembled west Texas, only with less vegetation. Closer, she could tell the door had been forcibly opened and wouldn't close if it wanted to.

Hello?

The response came from a building visible across the dry, cracked ground. Well, it was more like a cluster of destroyed buildings all surrounding one larger broken building with broken columns in the front. Occasionally from the cracks in the ground, some sort of gas hissed into the 'air'.

The door didn't shut behind her. As before, it wasn't capable of closing from this side either. The air smelled antiseptic, reminding Haley of a hospital, even though the terrain looked nothing like one. The remains of the village ahead seemed to be the only feature. The outer buildings were scraped to their foundations, while the inner buildings, the ones closer to the central building, had more structure. Even they were in a ruined and uninhabitable state though.

Horror movie? The thought gave the sense that it was an unfamiliar term.

Up ahead, there was some movement between the buildings. It was only visible for a moment.

why are you hiding in here? We could just talk in the common room. You know. With our physical bodies.

Haley's body, meanwhile stood stationary, vacantly gazing off into space as she traveled the mindscape.

The movement happened again and this time she was almost certain it was the form of a young woman, leaping from ruined wall to ruined wall before disappearing into the ruins again.

Even amidst destruction, the seer's power carries on. She sees, therefore she is the seer. If you wish to speak with her, you should come to the temple.

There was the creaking of a bow string to her right and the young woman she had seen earlier was there, aiming an arrow at her. The woman wore a binding like Miranda's in the real world, but she seemed to have no trouble aiming at Haley. Her clothing was tattered, but still bore some resemblance to a toga and sandals. Unless you seek to harm the seer, then you *will* be repelled.

The woman regarded her for a moment longer and then eased the bow string, putting the arrow away. She leaped down into the road and motioned for Haley to follow. This way then.

As they walked towards the central building, Haley got a better look at the destruction. Most of the buildings were charred and burned in places, some looking like they'd been hit by an explosion, others looking like they'd just burned. Here and there, she thought she could see black soot outlines of humanoid figures on the walls.

There are some things even the seer chooses not to remember. All I know is that it was a very bad time for her. It even broke the temple.

She gestured to the large building they were approached. To Haley, it looked like a municipal building, complete with stone columns and stone lions. Now it had more in common with pictures you might see of the old buildings in Rome or Athens. The columns were broken off in jagged pieces. The stone was blackened in places and the stone lions on the front of the building were missing their heads. In some places, black stuff like cooled lava clung to the stone.

The seer is inside. The woman with the bow gestured. Be respectful.

The interior was as wrecked as the outside with broken columns and statuary everywhere. In places the roof was open to the 'sky'. The hospital smell was stronger here. In the middle of all the ruin sat a young woman, about Miranda's real size. She was wearing a black one-shouldered gown that went all the way to the floor and her head was covered with a red cloak that drooped down over her eyes.

You come to speak with the seer. You must have a good heart or a strong will. The huntress does not let just anyone through.

just sort of curious why all of this... she looked around the ruined room and sort of trailed off.

Why the hell was all of this in this girl's head? Or had she tripped into the Astral again. Haley was not good at this.

This is the work of the Dark Wind. If you see them, avoid them at all costs. I... She approached Haley.

Seer! The huntress came backing into the temple, fending off a large black creature made of smoke. The Seer looked at Haley and Haley might glimpse scars under her eyes just barely visible under the edge of her hood.

Is there any assistance you can offer? Even as she said this, flames wreathed her hand and launched from there at the creature, stalling its motion.

She lashed out with her TK much as she felt she would in the real world, trying to just blast the creature backwards with bone-splintering force (not that the thing seemed to have bones.)

The creature, stalled by the flames, was completely unprepared for Haley's assault. It tumbled back out of the doorway, breaking apart on the steps of the temple. The seer poked through the remains until she found the head, incinerating it with another blast of fire. I appreciate the assistance, child of Texas. The seer said, bobbing her head at Haley.

That was one of the things left behind by the destruction. They are resident to this place now, which is why the Huntress isn't capable of dealing with them. The Dark Wind itself is gone or at least it seems to be. My sight has not been able to divine it recently.
