Issue 1 Downtime

Sid barges into the room and throws her duffelbag onto her bed. Or rather she throws it against the wall, making it fall onto the bed.

Molly was floating above her bed, typing on a laptop when Sidney startled her. She started to fall but managed to catch herself at the last minute.

"Oh, hello," Molly says, making an effort to sound happy and cheerful, "Are you my new roommate?"

"Oh god, you're one of the preppy cheerful ones." she groans.

"And you're a horrid bitch who dresses like a homeless person," Molly says, without a break in her demeanor, "But that doesn't mean we can't be friends."

"I'm Molly."

"Glad we got that sorted..." she says, a little impressed surprised by that. "I'm Sid."

"Nice to meet you, Sid," Molly says. She types Gtg. See you soon to her chat partner and closes her laptop.

"Did you need any help getting moved in?"

"Nah, that's all my crap right there." she jerks at thumb at the duffelbag. "So you're the one that flies, huh?"

"Something like that," Molly says, "What about you?"

"I'm awesome. It's a heavy burden to bear. Oh and I heal insanely fast."

Molly laughs, "Trust me, around here having a healthy ego is a lot more of a mutation then being able to heal."

"Yeah, so I noticed. Is there anybody around who isn't lame?"

"Almost everyone here means well," Molly says, "They're just a bit oversensitive, you know?"

"Man, what the fuck ever, right? Is there at least some shit to do in town?" she asks, throwing herself onto the bed and leaning against her bag with her arms behind her head.

Molly snorts, "In Maldon? Not really. There's some fun clubs and stuff in London though."

"Ugh. Clubs? Next thing you'll tell me they got parents hanging around to make sure everything is nice and boring."

"I don't think anyone here has parents anywhere nearby," Molly points out.

"Not what I meant but fair enough." she says, jumping up and heading over to the window. "So is flying all you do or can you shoot lasers from your eyes as well?"

"Do you just heal or do you have a series of metal claws that come out of your hands?" Molly asks.

"Nope, just snark." she says, opening the window and getting out her pack of smokes.

"Please don't smoke in here. It smells super gross," Molly says.

"That's why I'm smoking at the window." she says as if to go 'Well duh.'

"That's not how smells work," Molly says.

"Ugh. Fine. Close the freaking window behind me then if you gotta be be a whiner." she says, climbing out of the window and onto the outside windowsill.

Molly steps out of the window, floating in midair and closing the window behind her.

"Sorry, I don't mean to be a bitch," Molly says, "I just don't want your disgusting smoke to get all over my nice clothes."

"It's bad enough my boyfriend smokes."

"Not like I'm blowing smoke in your closet." she rolls her eyes. "But whatevs. You wouldn't have to worry so much if you didn't spend a hundred bucks on a pair of pants, you know."

"Well, if you spent a bit more on your pants, maybe they wouldn't rip so often," Molly replies.

"Nah I'm pretty sure they'd get just as fucked up."

"Well, I take care of my things," Molly says, "So, please? Just don't get...stuff on them."

"Stuff." she just deadpans, refusing to phrase it as a question even though it clearly is.

"Yeah, smoke or...." Molly sniffs, "Stuff."

"Sure thing."

"Thank you," Molly says cheerfully.

"Anyway, I'll see ya around." she says, crushing the lit cigarette butt in her hand and tossing it down into the garden.

"Have a nice day," Molly says cheerfully.

And with that she jumps down to the garden herself, kinda sorta landing in a roll.

A couple days later...

At this point Sidney has done a good job covering most of the walls in various posters. Among them the obligatory Che and Nirvana ones. She also seems to have gathered a not insignificant amount of scented candles and incense sticks that she's lit, filling the room with various smells. Molly's closet is also open and devoid of any clothes. Sidney is sitting on the bed, essentially waiting for Molly to show up while she's listening to some music.

Molly opens the window and floats inside, wearing sunglasses and holding a latte. Apparently she had spent the entire day with her mysterious boyfriend again.

"Good mor -- Where are my clothes?"

Molly's tone was somewhere between shock and confusion.

"Oh, I figured you didn't want any of my stuff to get on them."

Molly looked absolutely horrified, "What did you do with them?"

"Oh they're outside." she says, jerking her thumb towards the cracked-open window.
