Issue 1 Downtime

Alex sat at breakfast looking rather zombie-like, mechanically eating. He'd slept a while, but not restfully, and after he'd woken from the dream, he hadn't been able to get back to sleep again at all. I can't even DREAM being a superhero right.

Regan sat down across from Alex, smirking at him.

"Trouble sleeping?"

He rolled his eyes. "Oh, no, not at all. I'm just peachy this morning."

"Maybe we should try meeting up sometime during the daylight hours for once," Regan suggests quietly, before sipping on some orange juice.

Alex smirked. "Yeah, because when we do that it turns out so much better?"

"Well," Regan says, "At least we wouldn't wake up at inopportune times."

"Well, this time I guess it might have been very opportune."

"Who cares about some dream?" Regan asks, "It isn't even real."

"Yeah, guess that's true," he acknowledged. "So you're okay, then?" She certainly seemed less... shaken than yesterday.

"I'm actually feeling great for once," Regan says, "I had a really fun night. It really let me forget about all the bullshit that's been happening lately."

"Oh," Alex said, slightly surprised, but rolling with it. "Well... glad to hear that, then. Maybe things are clearing up again."

"Yeah, I'm sure everything is going to be sunshine and rainbows from here on out," Regan says.

"And bunnies farting glitter in the wind, yeah," Alex said, rolling his eyes.

"So, what are you up to today?" Regan asks, "Going to spend some time with your girlfriend?"

"No idea. If she's free," he said. Right now all I can think about is getting through class and catching a nap. "Great way to waste a Friday, not being awake enough to freaking do anything."

"And all without the benefit of a nice party the night before, poor dear," Regan says.
