There was the usual knock at the door, as Stan arrived for his relatively regular check-up on his children.

"Hey Dad." Christie said, opening the door "Tommy's at the library, come on in." he might, possibly, notice that she'd been crying.

He did indeed notice the crying, as he entered the room with a smile.
"We'll, the dorm room hasn't turned into a disaster area, yet. That's good." He said, jokingly.

"Yeah, we're trying to keep it habitable." Christie said, trying to joke back, she added "Also, I told Tommy if it started smelling like boy-funk, I'd throw him out the window."

"Its nothing...I was just being dumb." Christie said, and knowing her dad wouldn't accept that said "There was this girl I liked, and....things were going ok, and then she decided that she didn't want to go out with me."

"Thats about it." Christie said with a shrug "I finally met a girl I liked, who liked girls, who I thought liked me......and then nothing. I'm going to die old and alone."

Stan nodded, and pulled her in for a hug, rubbing her back in a fatherly way.
"I'm sorry, Christy.. Things won't always be like that.. you'll find someone."

He continued the hug, like any good parent would.

Christie cried for a long time, but finally the tears subsided "God, you must think I'm a total wuss."

"Oh, just dealing with the fallout from the as guardian attack and mind switch.. The history of the lighthouse and the Braddock estate have quite an interesting history. I think you might like it."
He turned, closing the door.
"I've kept some of the mutant studies projects going on the back burner, though."

He sighed as they headed out into the sun, and rubbed her shoulder in sympathy.
