Issue 1 Downtime

Kay suddenly finds herself sitting on the couch in the common room, watching TV. Blinking she looks around, wondering how she got teleported over here from her room. Then she notices her hands. They don't really look like hers used to, but in her shock she barely notices.

"I'm back to normal!" she shouts, jumping up. Then immediately looks confused at her own voice. "What the heck?" And what are those blurry frames in her field of vision. Glasses? And why is red hair falling into her face. She takes two steps to go find... something or somebody. A mirror maybe. Then stops and turns around to grab the remote and turn off the TV. However once she picks it up and turns to the TV she almost instinctively throws it at one of the characters on screen, embedding the remote in the now broken and sparking flatscreen with a loud crash. She just blinks and stares at it with her mouth hanging open.

"There's some sort of fight going on outside," Theresa said, rushing into the common room. Then she noticed the TV, "What the hell did the TV do to you, Brigid?"

"I... that... Brigid?" she asks, looking down at her hands again, then reaching up to take off her (pointless) glasses to look at them. "Oh my god! I'm not back to normal. I'm Brigid!" She looks back at Theresa. "Just... not really. It's me. Kay. I think something really weird happened..."

"Okay, I realize we haven't been hanging out with you as much, but that's no reason to fool with me like this," Theresa said, eyeing 'Brigid'.

"I'm not messing with you, Ree. I was in my room a couple minutes ago and suddenly I blink and I'm here on the couch and everything's weird."

"The story's a bit weak, Brigid. How long have you been working on it?"

"What. The. HELL?" Came Kay's muffled voice from upstairs.

"I'm not making this up, I swear! Couple days ago we were sitting out by the point. You were talking about how you're getting better at seeing patterns and stuff in the weather and we bitched about Cal and internet trolls."

Theresa looked up towards the muffled shout and then back at 'Brigid'. "So Kay told you about that? You'll pardon me if I'm not finding it very funny."

Stumbling, awkward footsteps started descending.

"No of course I didn't tell her about it. Look I know how crazy this sounds it's... I mean I don't know... And I didn't mean to break the TV and I don't know what's happening but it's really me." she says, starting to freak out for real now, tears welling up in her eyes.

What looked like Kay stepped into the doorway of the common room and just stared at 'Brigid' for a few seconds.

"You... but I... but you..."

Theresa looked between them for a moment, "Okay, guys, I know I've been busy and stuff, but this has gone far enough." She did sound a little less convinced that this was a joke though.

"Brigid? Is that you?" she sniffs, looking up at, well, herself. It's more than just a little weird because it feels nothing at all like looking in a mirror.

"How... how did you... Kay?"

"I don't know. Would you please tell Theresa that this is not some kind of joke?"

"Does this look like it's a joke? What the hell?"

Theresa wasn't sure how to react, torn between the natural explanation that her friends were pulling her leg for being so busy lately and the far-fetched explanation that they had somehow switched bodies. The end result was that she just stood there, looking between the two of them.

""Ree I swear we're not messing with you! It's not even funny. Just... freaky."

"How did this even happen?"

"I don't know, I was just in my room and suddenly, bam, I'm here and throwing the remote at the TV."

"Which is where I was, before I ended up in your room..."

God, is that really how I sound?

"So, uhm, what now? Is this a power mishap? Someone messing with us? Ooh if this is Haley..." she punches her palm.

"Even at her bitchiest, I don't think Haley's capable of something like that."

"Hey uhm... if you've got my powers you... really don't want to do anything like that."

"Y-yeah, you're probably right..." she says, glancing at the ruined TV.

God, this sucks. Did it really have to be my girlfriend and one of my best friends that got switched? Gotta handle this carefully.

"Umm... so..."

Smooth.

"We should probably find a teacher..."

"Yeah, they'll get this fixed, whatever it is."

"Better if we go as a group. Just... try not to touch things too much."

"It just caught me off-guard..." she mumbles.

"I should probably stay put. I'm definitely me, or at least I'm pretty sure I'm me, and I don't want to add to the chaos."

"I'm not blaming you, trust me. Just... be careful."

"If you're sure..." she says to Theresa. "I'll drop by later then, okay?"

"Hopefully whatever it is isn't contagious."

"...how could it be?"

"Gee I dunno. How did we swap bodies all of a sudden?"

"Well... you wouldn't be doing anything where being contagious would be an issue anyway."

"...Out of my WAY you assholes!"

THere was a commotion down the hall, then something came into the room... that they absolutely couldn't see. "What the hell's going on?" 'Aisha' sounded... rather freaked out. Probably more than either of the other girls.
