I suppose I should do this instead of drinking NyQuil...

[Haley Crusek]

Haley sat in the library, doing homework while she waited for Nailah.

[Nailah Weaver]

A couple minutes past eight Nailah walks up, carrying an old book and a small velvet pouch.

"Good evening." she smiles faintly and sits down across the table from Haley.

[Haley Crusek]

"Hi Miss Weaver," she said quietly, closing the book she had in front of her and setting down her pencil.

[Nailah Weaver]

"You're lucky I've been looking into these things already. And hopefully a minor ward will be enough to keep the dreams out." she says, setting down the book and the small pouch.

[Haley Crusek]

"Ah...a what?" she asked, eyeing the book and her teacher warily.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Think of it as a shield. I can explain it more if you wish, but it might sound a little strange to you."

[Haley Crusek]

"Is...that your power? I thought you just knew when Jason was going to throw spitballs before he even did it and stuff."

[Nailah Weaver]

She chuckles faintly. "It's part of it. Those dreams are part of something that's... spiritual in nature. In a way you are being haunted."

[Haley Crusek]

"Wait wait wait...ghosts are REAL?" she said, panic in her voice, her other nightmares becoming that much more true.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Not how you know them. And that you are even experiencing this is very unusual so please don't worry. Sometimes things happen that have such an impact that those memories linger. Very few people would even notice, but because the lighthouse was destroyed things are out of balance."

[Haley Crusek]

"So ghosts are real and I'm weird for noticing them... awesome," she said nervously.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Okay, maybe ghost is too much of a loaded word here. Think of it as old thoughts and memories. They're supposed to be in the past where they belong, but right now they leak into the present sometimes. There's nothing wrong with you, it's those memories that don't belong here."

[Haley Crusek]

"But if they're memories then how do they like...respond to me?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"This is going to sound more dismissive than it is but... Magic. It's how I see the future, it's how you dream of something that happened as if you had been there and it's how I'm going to set this right."

[Haley Crusek]

"Wait...you mean magic is...like...real?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"It is. Most who try to convince you of it are full of it, but it doesn't matter if you believe me or not. Just keep this on you when you go to bed." she says, opening the small pouch and pulling out a thin metal disc on a delicate chain.

[Haley Crusek]

"Okay...should i wear it all the time or just at night?" she asked, slipping it around her neck since she didn't have what she felt to be a particularly good place to put it in her backpack.

"So are there like...a lot of people who can do magic?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"Not particularly. And you can wear it anytime you like. Just don't let anyone else touch it."

Nailah raises her hand. "Anen makhent ent rah, anen makhent ua neter." She touches Haley's forehead with her thumb for a moment.

[Haley Crusek]

Is that...egyptian? Makes sense I guess... Haley tensed up a bit, not sure if she'd feel anything, not having ever had a spell cast on her before.

[Nailah Weaver]

Haley would feel absolutely nothing. The whole thing seemed rather unremarkable really, if a little weird. The next time she'd look at the little medallion though she'd notice geometric markings and hieroglyphics on it now.

"That should do."

[Haley Crusek]

"Thanks Ms. Weaver," she said looking down at the amulet. "Oh whoa, those weren't there before..."

[Nailah Weaver]

"As long as those are there you'll be protected. Though it won't stop regular nightmares."

[Haley Crusek]

"Well, hopefully those go away totally...they've mostly been replaced by ones with the lady though ... Do you know who she might be?"

[Nailah Weaver]

"I'm not entirely certain, but she was probably someone tied to Excalibur and Captain Britain. One of the good guys."

[Haley Crusek]

"Well. That's good at least..." She said with some uncertainty still. "Thanks for doing this Ms. Weaver...I'm sorry I fell asleep in class."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Don't worry about it. Just don't let it happen again, yes?" she smiles faintly.

[Haley Crusek]

"I'll try. English really is my favorite class,"

[Nailah Weaver]

"No need to suck up to me." she smirks.

[Haley Crusek]

"No, really. Even before here. I just like to read."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Even if it's just any old novel you might already be ahead of the curve there."

[Haley Crusek]

"Speaking of, I should probably finish this homework of yours. I've got this funny feeling the title character is about to get shanked," she smirked.

[Nailah Weaver]

"I shall leave you to it then." she chuckles.

[Haley Crusek]

"Thanks again Ms. Weaver. Really helped getting this off my chest. Hopefully I'll sleep well tonight."

[Nailah Weaver]

She nods and gets up. "I'll see you in class."
