The Estate's meticulously kept gardens, including a hedgemaze that students have occasionally described as "sadistic" and a sizeable rose garden. Benches in shaded spots are plentiful, and the gardens are popular to study in on pleasant days.
The wolf comes around the corner of the mansion, still shaking some remains of a shattered pane of glass from it's mane. When it sees Maya it growls with it's tail between it's legs.
There's a hint of recognition in the wolf's eyes. Jennifer is still somewhat in control but running into Maya is only exacerbating her fear about hurting somebody. Her head swivels around, trying to find a good escape route, awkwardly walking a couple steps backwards.
The wolf nervously paces back and forth, lowering her head and letting out a low whine. Maya is making herself bigger and standing between her and the relative safety of the woods.
Maya lifts up her hands, keeping her voice quiet, "Maybe we could not call all the other wolves in the area? I'm not super great with animals that might want to eat me."
The next howl kind of dies in her throat before it can come out at that. She hadn't thought about that. That's dangerous. She doesn't want Maya to get hurt. Just Haley maybe. Her head swivels towards the woods and back to Maya and stands up, her back easily past Maya's hips. She almost seems like she's trying to stand between Maya and the direction of the howl.
Should she run? She vaguely remembered that running from wild animals was a bad idea. Besides, these might not be wild animals. She wasn't sure. She didn't know what to do.
"I wish Jen were here," Maya says quietly to herself.
"Fine, fine! I'll go," Maya says. She opens the door. With only a slight hesitation and look back she disappears back into the building, heading to her room.
