Need to talk.
- Murphy
That was the entirety of the note left on Brigid's door. Murphy was waiting for Brigid out in the woods, where things would go unseen and unnoticed.
She probably would have been waiting less if she had put a location on the note.

Brigid does eventually find her way out there, but the way she pauses every so often to sniff the air shows it's probably a laborious process.
Regardless, Murphy has likely spotted her by now.

Murphy was sitting on a log, unshifted, carving a piece of wood.
She watches Brigid approach silently.

"...hey. Uhm... I guess this is the place, huh?"
She gives an awkward wave.
"You er... weren't very specific."

Murphy nods, "It's okay. No rush."

"Yes," Murphy says. She seems to be considering Brigid carefully.

"That's good! I could tell you guys needed to, you know, unwind."

"Are you in love with Theresa?" Murphy asks bluntly.

"What? No, no, she's just a good friend."
"I'd like to think you're a friend too, which is why it was really dumb what I did."

Murphy nods, "Was dumb. Hurtful. Selfish."
"Why?"

"We just... got to talking, I guess. She was one of the first people I met at orientation here and we sort of hit it off back then, though neither of us admitted it to each other at the time."
"So we were getting things out in the open before things got... well you know, 'Grr, argh,'" she says, posing her hands in a clawing motion for emphasis, "and that came out."
"...sort of seems crazy in retrospect."

"Mmhmm," Murphy says. She sounds skeptical. She folds her knife and puts it down with the carving on the log.
She stands up and stretches out a bit.

"Hurting you was the furthest thing from my mind but..."
"...a lot of things were pretty far from my mind that afternoon, if I'm honest."

"What was on your mind?" Murphy asks. Her eye flashes yellow.

"It was... sort of a game of chicken, I think."
"Neither one of us was willing to back down."

"We just kept upping the ante and it got out of hand."
"Then after that we locked eyes and started growling at each other, which was also pretty freaky."

"We were locked like that for awhile. We... hadn't ever done anything like that before. I think that's about when we knew we were definitely going to change."

"Well, once we'd... you know, settled the whole staring thing, we agreed that it couldn't go any farther than that."
"Don't get me wrong, I like Theresa. I probably even have a girl-crush on her, but she's yours. I know that."

"Not mine," Murphy says. "Not a possession."
"Done with this," Murphy growls.
And that's when she starts shifting.

"I... I don't know what you want me to say here, Murphy." She says, backing up. "I'm being as honest as I can be."

"Don't say anything," Murphy says. "Settle this."
Shifted fully into her wolf form, Murphy charges Brigid with her teeth bared.

Brigid is bowled over, but with the adrenaline flowing she's starting to shift too. Her arms crack and pop, sprouting hair as she braces them to keep Murphy's jaws from her.
She pulls her legs back and aims a sharp kick at Murphy's gut to try to knock her off.

Brigid knocks Murphy away. It gives her some space, but Murphy was recovering quickly.
She let out a low growl, flattening her ears and baring her teeth at Brigid.

Brigid doesn't take too long after that to surge up to twelve feet of special effects budget, though she hasn't gone full-wolf like Murphy.
She stands up, tatters of clothing falling about her and growls back, golden eyes locking on Murphy's as she also bares her teeth.

Brigid's ready this time, and positions her arms to receive Murphy's leap and try to redirect her into a tree trunk.

Murphy hits the tree. Hard. She struggles to get back up. Still growling at Brigid.
The collar around her neck tightens a bit and she winces.

Brigid grunts and backs up, scooping up a rather large tree branch. Getting a good grip, she swings it at Murphy like a baseball bat.

There's a loud yiping sound as the branch hits Murphy with a great deal of force and bowls her over. She skids against the ground. Several bones felt broken and her everything was hurting.
Murphy starts to get up again.

It doesn't seem like gloating, more like a plea.

Brigid hangs on for dear life, trying to entangle Murphy's hind legs with her own to limit the wolf's movement.
