Issue 1 Downtime

It would be very hard to miss Anastaysia as she walked up the road towards Braddock Manor. After all, most people arrived by car, not with a couple boxes slung over their backs. Secondly, most people weren't pushing seven feet tall and ripped -- sure, there were some physical outliars on campus, but people Jen Walters size don't show up every day, even at Mutant U.

At the front gate, she stopped, puzzled, trying to figure out how to open it without putting down her things. She settled for kicking the handle once.

The kick mostly just rattles the gate. It still seems to have gotten someones attention, as a moment later gate opens revealing Cecil in his X-team uniform.

He looks at her and the boxes she was carrying. "Ms. Volkoff?"

"Da. And who might you be, then?" she said, looking down to Cecil.

Though Cecil wouldn't admit it, he was a little bit intimidated by the large woman.

"Erm..Cecil Langdon, a student here and a member of the X-Teams."

"The Ex-Teams? Oh, yes, the protectorate of the peoples. A pleasure, I am sure."

"We were expecting you to arrive today, but also expecting the driver we sent to pick you up. Did you walk the whole way?"

"Da. Warm weather here in countryside, no?"

Warm?

"I guess that depends on what you consider warm."

"This is not warm for you? You are the chilly?"

"Well, I consider it to be a little bit cold right now."

"Typical Western luxury. This is weather for short and tank top."

"I think a good bit of it depends on the temperatures you are used to. Some of the people that are here from warmer climates probably think its freezing."

"Adaptation is key! Spend time outdoors. Stop being pampered by TV and phones!"

"You'll need to stop the the Administrative Building to get checked in." He looked back at her "You can probably drop you luggage off at your dorm first if you know where that is already."

"I do not. I could knock on doors until I find, but administration is likely more direct."

"Okay, the Administrative Building is this way then."

He slowly started down a path, motioning for her to follow.

"You were Cecil, yes? You are the welcoming committee?"

"No, since you didn't take the car we sent we had no idea when you were arriving. I was just nearby when you knocked on the gate so I let you in."

I'm not how long it would have held up if you tried knocking some more.

"Then, what is it you do here, Cecil? What is your role on the Ex-Teams?"

"Not sure that I have a specific role, I just arrived here and joined up a few months ago. Really only served as security and that was only once a bit over a week ago."

"Security! You? Forgive my surprise, but you do not seem...secure?"

Cecil wasn't sure how to react to that. He was offended y the comment on one hand. On the other hand he had to admit that Ms. Volkoff was a lot stronger and tougher than he was.

"My power is a can generate a telekinetic field that extends a few centimeters from my body, with it up I'm fairly tough. I'm not normal security anyway, it was more of call was made to everyone available when a couple of super-powered goons came on campus and started making trouble."

"Goons you say? I would think you would show them how goons are welcome here, da?"

"Yes, we took care of them. But then weird stuff happened, I'm not sure you'd believe it if I told you."

"Weird stuff is normal around here, da?"

"Yes, I guess so."

"Well, we will be to show them what we are made of, da?"
