Issue 1 Downtime

Regan was in the gardens, engaging in one of her hobbies: making up dialogue for couples she spied on from a distance.

"Darling," Regan says in a gruff voice as she watches one of the students talking with his girlfriend, "I just snorted Leary's ashes and frankly my dear, you have the head of an ant."

Regan shifts to an over the top girly voice, "Oh, my sweet, sweet, Santos. Every word out of your mouth makes me want to kill myself."

"I just ate the spirits of my ancestors."

"Kiss me you fool! We'll embrace oblivion together!"

"You have a very unique sense of humor." a voice behind her chuckles dryly.

"This isn't humor," Regan says, "It's boredom."

"Humor went out the window when I lost the ability to throw expired meats at couples."

"I'm sure everyone is very relieved."

"For now," Regan says, in her best foreboding voice.

"Is the vengeful spirit planning on stealing someone's body?" she laughs.

"As fun as that'd be, it's not a great idea," Regan says, sounding annoyed. More annoyed, "Apparently I eat souls when I possess people."

"What about someone 'empty'? Say, someone who just died."

"Wouldn't I just be stuck in a rotting slab of meat?" Regan asks.

"Possibly, possibly. You never know though."

"Where would I even find a body like that?" Regan wonders aloud.

"Certainly not in a morgue or a hospital." she smirks.

"Or one of those bridges everyone commits suicide off of."

"As dull as Maldon can be, I don't think all that many suicides happen here. Besides, who needs bridges with a perfectly fine cliff-face overlooking the ocean. Very dramatic and scenic."

"More like cliche," Regan says.

"Unlike jumping from a bridge."

"Look, we could argue all day about cliffs and bridges," Regan says, "Or you could help me find a body for proper experimentation."

"The Maldon Shopper should have some obituaries."

"Yeah, I'll just pick one up with my ghost hands."

"You have a hard time just asking for help, don't you?" she says and heads toward the manor.

"I don't know what you're talking about," Regan says, following after her.

"Of course not." she smirks and they're off to find some dead-people listings.
