Near the edges of the estate, a large man sat down under a tree to take a rest. He looked as if he'd made a habit of sleeping outdoors, recently.

Nick landed nearby.
"So... should I be worried that we have yet another uninvited guest this week or asking if you are in some kind of trouble?"

The man looked up at Nick.
"...huh?"

"Just the usual visit by narcissistic supervillain dickheads... and you don't look like you've seen a warm bed in a while."

"Narsiwhosiwhatsis?" He scratched his head.

Nick rubbed his forehead. "Nevermind."
"So do you need something from the Institute or not? We've got some freaked out kids here and big scary looking strangers lurking around the grounds is so not what we need right now."

"I was just resting," he frowned.
A squirrel scampered down the tree.

"Nothing wrong with that," he assured, "But these kids tend to jump to conclusions quick, ya dig?"

"I... I didn't know," he said with a sigh, then looked down to the squirrel, which was staring at him.

"And now you do," he said kindly.
He regarded the squirrel then. "Well he likes you, so you can't be too bad."

He cocked his head at the squirrel, as if listening.
"...well if you can't find it, maybe you buried it?"
He paused again.
"What do you mean you don't remember where you buried it?"
Another pause.
"...well I'm sorry, man. It's gone, then."
The squirrel scampered off after that last seeming exchange.

Nick raised an eyebrow.
"Animal telepathy?"

"...huh?" He said, with a confused look at Nick.
Overhead, clouds had started to gather. It seemed a storm was on the way.

I don't like the way those clouds look...
"You can talk to animals?"

"Well, I..." He looked up at the darkening sky.
"...I should go."

Nick had a gut feeling something was off with the guy, but couldn't place it.
"You sure you're okay?"

"I'll... I'll be fine. I just... gotta go..."
He scrambled to his feet, hurrying for the edge of the property just as the thunderstorm started rolling in.

Nick frowned deeply as he watched the guy hurry away. The guy was obviously afraid of something.
"Not a good storm at all..." he said, looking up.

The storm itself seemed ordinary enough, save for the fact that Nick couldn't recall the forecast calling for one.
