Issue 1 Downtime

Haley popped up out of the ground just after Cal. "Cool! We found the middle," she grinned, dusting herself off and taking a deep breath of the fresh night air.

"Huh," Cal said, looking around. "Guess I should have tried harder to get here before. This is kind of cool. Oh, and..." He gave her a slap on the ass. "That's for before."

Haley yelped, and ran away laughing. "Jerk. I didn't pinch you that hard." She plopped down on a stone bench and looked up at the stars. "You're right, though, this is pretty dang cool."

"Yeah, but what was this wired up for?" Cal asked, examining the fountain for any splits in the marble or likely compartments. He glanced over at her for a moment. "And yeah, you didn't. That was just because I wanted to, really," he added with a smirk.

Haley smirked. "Jerk."

She shrugged at him, her face scrunched up in thought, "I dunno. Booby traps or something? Seem kinda silly though. It hurt a lot, but nothing that'd really stop anyone from getting in."

"Yeah, but... this thing? I mean, it looked like there was another one wired up, so there must be something to keep people out of here..."

"Whole thing seems really weird. I mean, I knew Sackville was weird but this is just straight up crazy."

"Yeah, I know," he admitted. "I mean... electrified doors in the mansion that don't do more than give you a sting? That vault? And... ah shit, actually..." His eyes went out of focus as he checked the time logs when the door had shocked him and checked for any transmissions that had been detected at the same time.

"Ah shit? Ah shit what?" she asked, curious.

"Well, you said it. What was the point of the shock if it wouldn't stop anyone, unless it did something else, too. Hang on, I'm checking..."

"Oh shit. I hope not," she said, a bit worried.

"Pfff, please, what are we going to get in trouble for? 'Oh, they found the secret electrified doorway that we put into a school full of kids'?"

"Yeah, but did you see all the shit in that vault? He had to have like stolen that from a museum. Maybe the other teachers don't even know!"

No transmissions detected!

"How could they not know? I mean, he can't really dig that tunnel and put in traps without them knowing, right?" Cal pointed out. "All right... doesn't look like it was an alarm. We should be good."

"Alright. Well that's good at least," she smiled. "So....what should we do now that we're all alone in the middle of a maze that's hard to get to?" she asked flirtatiously.

Cal turned around, suddenly not very interested in the fountain. "I'm suddenly a biiiiig fan of the landscaping at this place," he said with a grin as he walked over to her.

"Get over here, it's cold out," she grinned, making room on the bench she was currently occupying, and thinking some decidedly un-PG thoughts his way.

"Someone's a bad girl tonight," Cal said with a smirk as he sat down. "Too bad I know you don't want to follow through," he added with a taunting wink as he slipped his arm around her.

"Oh, so you're a telepath now too?" she smirked, swinging around and straddling his lap, her arms wrapped around his neck.
