Sunday Afternoon

After spending forced time away from XI Belle had returned to the familiar campus with a 'fresh' outlook on life. She had forcibly stayed at a convent for a while until her father felt she learned her lesson. With the money turned back she had reapplied but spent a bit of time laying low.

Today was different. Today she wandered around the campus gardens with a hot tea as she admired the roses.

And she'd hopefully be paying attention where she was going, because somewhere among the roses Teri was lieing on her back in the grass, eyes closed.

Naturally Belle was in her own world, as usual, as she almost stepped on a young lady with her heal.

"Opps!" she exclaimed as she took a step back as hot tea splashed out of her cup.

Teri's eyes snap open at the sound just in time to have tea splashed on her. In her surprise she suddenly bursts into a giant cloud of locust.

The giant cloud of locust startled Belle enough that she stumbled back and fell on the ground. Belle turned her skin into ash and covered her eyes with a shriek.

Teri quickly caught herself and the swarm collapses in on itself until she looks normal again, standing in front of Belle.

"Oh jeez... We're so sorry!" she says, holding out a hand to help her up.

Belle returned to normal and accepted the hand up.

"We?" she asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes. You just saw us, didn't you?"

"You are locusts or the locusts are you?"

"Yes?" she says carefully. "We don't see a difference..."

"Very interesting...," Belle truly was fascinated.

"Well you all are forgiven," she sighed as she pickled up her trash off the dirt.

"Oh good. You just startled us."

"It was my wrong doing. I was miles away..."

"We're Teri." she smiles, introducing herself.

Once again Belle raised an eyebrow in curiosity, "Nice to meet all of you...?"

"I'm Itzcoatl Abelinda. Belle for short. I haven't seen you around. At all."

"We're new here. And we spend a lot of time out here while the weather is still kinda nice."

"I'm new here as well, sorta."

Belle studied her conversation partner, "You are fascinating."

She stepped closer to Teri with her eyes focused onto Teri's.

"Thank you?" she says, sounding surprised or at least a little confused, staring back at Belle without blinking her compound eyes, head tilted slightly.

"You're very welcome," she replied. "Tell me more."

Belle kept her gaze.

"About what?" she says, sounding just a tad intimidated.

Belle picked up the intimidation in her voice, "I'm sorry do I make you...uncomfortable? I can change the subject."

She took a step back and smiled, "What's interesting around here to do? I've been away."

"We're not sure. We like the country-side and the gardens. There's a couple horses in the stables! Though they always seem kind of nervous around us."

"I don't know how to ride those things and I'm nervous around them myself. Ever since that one time back home..."

"Well there's pubs and a library and coffee shops and things in town."

"Care to show me around town sometime? I mean you sort of owe me another tea. She who lays in the grass," she joked.

Belle smiled and winked, "Well even with my out of date knowledge I'm sure[i we[/i] can find something. We might even step on someone else!"

Her voice was half playful and half mocking.

Teri tilts her head again.

"Are you mocking us?"

"I would never!"

"That's not true. I would and I was."

"I'm the nicest person I know!" she snapped back.

Realizing her mistake she paused.

"You're right though... I'm... I'm sorry." She said sincerely even if it looked liked it hurt to say.

"Yes. Well, God but... yes." she says, opting to not explain the holy trinity right there.

Belle just stood there silently playing with her hair. Biting her tongue not to bite off the head of this locust woman she had just met.

"I'm a little lost my buggy acquaintance."

"Well Jesus is not the same as the Lord, but the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost are the Holy Trinity, so in a way the things Jesus taught are the word of God."

Belle waved away the information with her hand, "Yes yes I know. I was unsure if you meant The Lord or some other bugged religion."

"You are a religious person or just like the many nuns in my life telling me how to act?"
