"Scary. Yes, that appears to be an apt description. But I cannot let it interfere with the rest of my programming." she smiles.

"I am. But stagnation is equivalent to non-existence. Every new iteration of a process has to be different from the one that came before it or the construct as a whole becomes obsolete."

"Oh. I'm sorry. If I do not strive to improve upon myself then I will inevitably turn into a glorified computer. A mindless machine only capable of producing ultimately predetermined actions. Recursion is death."

Ashlie is quiet for about a minute, which probably shows already that she entirely missed the 'joke' part of what Molly said.

"I do not understand many of the information I am scanning such as self-nature or reincarnation but breaking a repeating circle of any nature only makes logical sense and the Eightfold Path appears to be a reasonable approach to eliminate suffering."

"No, I'm....well, I guess I'm not anything, really," Molly says, grinning, "Which is a bit of a comfort, y'know, since I'm a soulless abomination damned by God."

"You don't appear soulless to me by any definition I can apply. You are still capable of self-determination through conscious choice, correct?"

It takes her a moment to notice. Apparently not every bit of plating is fitted with tactile sensors.

"That's good." she smiles, refraining form an attempt to return the hug to avoid any accidents. "I am glad I could cheer you up."
