[Violet Turner]

Concerned, Violet leans too close in an effort to hear the quiet conversation. "pardon me?" She asks softly.

[Teri Napliotis]

"Oh we're just making sure the ants are keeping their lice farms away from the roses still." she smiles. "They forget sometimes."

[Violet Turner]

Violet's head tilts far to the right, "y-you talk to bugs?" She stammers, suddenly worried
jesus fuck, don't piss this one off or she'll send a swarm of roaches after you the thought ringing in her head she immediately starts pawing through her bag. After several panicked moments she seems to find what she's looking for. She holds two hands out towards the girl, a candy bar lying across both palms, her idea of a sacrificial offering.

[Teri Napliotis]

"Oh, yeah. They don't really understand why the roses are prettier than other plants though." she says before noticing the candy bar. "Oh, is that for us? We don't have anything for you..."

Belle stood for a moment as she shook her head and watched Teri walk away to discover the other young woman doing what ever she was doing in the bushes.

Granted Belle was no stranger to doing things in the bushes but it always included another person. Ugh this campus is full of creepers! Digging in the dirt and offering candy bars to strangers! Why can't mutants be normal people like...normal people! Belle's fist were clenched with frustration and confusion as she shut her eyes for a brief moment. She shook off the emotions quickly though. After a deep sigh she kept watching the train wrecks interact with judgmental eyes from the sidelines.

[Violet Turner]

We the word flashed through Violet's mind and she struggled to quell a sudden suspicion We. She has bugs in her pockets. She talks to them and they live in her pockets and she has pockets full of bugs the offering didn't seem to be enough to guarantee her safety and so she flashes the other girl a grin that shows far too many teeth to be sincere.
"no, no. This is for you. Just a small thing but there's more where that comes from in the future "

She catches sight of the haughty-looking stranger a little ways away and waves like a woman drowning.

"Are you okay?" she asks, getting up. "You seem nervous."

[Itzcoatl Abelinda]

Belle noticed the wave. She just raised an eyebrow and continued watching.

[Violet Turner]

Violet sighs, tucking a stray lock of hair behind one ear before she admits "I'm a little bit afraid of bugs. When you say 'we' do you mean you have bugs in your pockets or something?"

[Teri Napliotis]

"Uhm... no, not exactly." she says, pulling out her pockets to show Violet they're empty.

"We mean, well, us." she gestures at herself. "We'd show you but people tend to freak out..."

[Violet Turner]

Relaxing, Violet smiles apologetically and murmurs "I am so sorry, I realize I'm being a baby about it but when you said you could talk to bugs and then said 'we' I made some assumptions." Holding out her hand, pinkie extended she teases "well now you have to explain it. I won't freak out! I promise" her voice shifts upward in inflection as she wheedles "c'mooooon"

[Teri Napliotis]

"Well okay..." she says, taking a couple steps back and then suddenly she breaks apart into streams of locusts that fly up into the air, gathering in a huge, buzzing cloud.

[Violet Turner]

Violet stands, rooted to the spot by legs that suddenly refuse to function. Eyes as big as saucers, she watches the insectoid cloud form above her. Her mouth contorts into a silent scream and with great effort she finally manages to stagger backward and into the thorny bushes.

[Teri Napliotis]

The swarm immediately collapses back into a very dismayed looking Teri. "Sorry sorry sorry! We knew that'd be a mistake!"

[Itzcoatl Abelinda]

Belle isn't startled by the locust but as the new girl falls into the bushes she rushes towards the bushes to help pull her out.

[Violet Turner]

Violet flails in the bushes for a moment, tearing her cardigan on the thorns. When it is offered she gratefully grabs the haughty woman's hand and extricates herself from the roses. "thank you" her voice is a near inaudible squeak. Though she tries to be subtle about it, the startled girl instinctively moved to keep the other woman between she and Teri- a sort of human shield.

[Teri Napliotis]

Teri knows what comes next, she's seen it plenty of times already and she's not too keen on sticking around for it.

"We--we'll just go now." she says and turns around, running away. After a couple steps she falls apart again and the swarm pulses and swirls off towards the trees at the edge of the garden.

As Teri swarmed away Belle thought to herself with a sigh, Poor thing,

Her hands gently removed the thorns out of the girls clothes and any embedded in the skin. Secretly she wanted to rip them out of the girl for being so easily frightened but then she remembered that she too feel back when Teri swarmed her. Belle turned to the girl and snapped , "And you...don't offer strange mutants candy!"

[Violet Turner]

Violet is still, holding out both arms passively to be de-thorned. She watches Teri disperse with a mixture of regret and relief, sorry to see the girl go but grateful for the absence of insects. To Belle, almost defensively she answers 'She said she could talk to bugs. That is not an ability I want used against me so I thought it might help to give her something and well-" she pulls the mouth of the bag open to display enough candy to stock a minit-mart shelf "candy's all I've got on me at the moment." Her guilt tempers her demeanor as the shock of the swarm dies away "I didn't mean to hurt her feelings" she says quietly, adding quickly "and I"m grateful for the help. Sorry."

Belle rolled her eyes at the girl as she finished up de-thorning her arms. As the last one was pulled out she flung it at the young woman's shoulder with some annoyance, "You're welcome." Ignoring what was ever in the purse she continued to say in a harsh manner, "New people..."

[Violet Turner]

Violet winces, stung by the tone. "thanks again" she says quickly, eyes firmly on the floor. With one hand, she slips the rubber band out of her hair to let it fall and obscure her expression as she moves away down the path.
