I13DT: Blast from the Past

[Will Stanton]

"And if I help her be less solemn, it will help you get back home?"

[Aria Nyx]

"It might! I'm kind of out of ideas right now, to be honest. There's something that's desynching things too much still but I don't know what."

[Will Stanton]

"Desynching, ey? So, something's going on here that isn't...right, then..." Will mused.

[Aria Nyx]

"Baaasically. It's like, assume there's a book and from my point of view somebody read it and that set off an important chain of events, right? Now I'm here and that person may or may not read that book, right? Hasn't happened yet but it might, so I could jump back to my future. It's a potential direction things could take. But if someone destroys the only copy then suddenly that potential future disappears. But because I'm still here I'm quantum-entangled with this time and I don't disappear even if my future currently doesn't exist from this point of view. But if I manage to reproduce the book from memory or cause I got a PDF copy or something then that puts everything back in synch, even if that person hasn't read it yet and in fact never might, from your point of view."

[Will Stanton]

Will stared at her blankly.

[Aria Nyx]

She sighs.

"Wibbley-wobbley, timey-wimey?"

[Will Stanton]

"So...some things that SHOULD have happened...haven't...because you're here. But if we MAKE those things happen..."

[Aria Nyx]

"Hey, it's not my fault they didn't happen. Things here can take different paths and I stayed too long an missed too many exits. I fixed the big problem but something is still in the way and I don't know what it is."

[Will Stanton]

"Well, maybe we need to pay more attention to details. Do some little things that approaches your perception of 'normalcy."

[Aria Nyx]

"Hmm. I suppose it couldn't hurt."

[Will Stanton]

"I mean, what you;ve been doing up TILL now hasn't worked," Will pointed out.

[Aria Nyx]

"Are you volunteering?"

[Will Stanton]

"I mean, if I can help someway, sure..."

[Aria Nyx]

"Oh what the hell, it actually might." she laughs.

[Will Stanton]

"So....what, do you listen to weird future music or something?" Will said, unsure of what Aria needed.

[Aria Nyx]

"Yeah, it's all just electronic noise and screeches in the future." she rolls her eyes. "But my coat's pretty busted and needs some fixing so I need something to wear. How good are you at weird future clothes? Ooh, or maybe one of those goofy scarves that flap in the wind that are totally impractical but wicked cool?"

[Will Stanton]

"Planning on posing in front of a sunset or something?"

[Aria Nyx]

"What's the point of being an awesome time-travel adventurer if you're not gonna pose in front of sunsets?"

[Will Stanton]

"Maybe I should check with my wife first..." Will hesistated. "You know, just to, um..."

[Aria Nyx]

"Whapshh!" she flicks her arm like she's cracking a whip. "You ask her for permission to hang out in the sauna too?"

[Will Stanton]

"Well, yes, sometimes..." Will admitted.

[Aria Nyx]

"Well then add one more person to the list of people who need to lighten up. Come on, it'll be fine!"

[Will Stanton]

"Alright....but be careful!" Will cautioned, turning into a rather boring overcoat. Perfect for wearing in the dang sauna, I'm sure.

[Aria Nyx]

"Dude, that is the lamest coat I've ever seen." she says as she picks him up. "Come on, try a little harder."

[Will Stanton]

"What? It's warm, it looks roughly your size..." the coat said. "It's cold out there!"

The coat turned a light pink. "Better?"

[Aria Nyx]

"What happened to your sense of style?" she asks. "I'm gonna take a shower and when i come back you better have some pizzazz." she says and poofs out of the sauna

[Will Stanton]

Will shifted back while Aria was gone. "Pizzazz?" he mumbled to himself, scratching his head. "I thought I was pretty snappy..."

[Aria Nyx]

After a while Aria opens the door again, wearing her normal cloths minus the coat. Some kind of shirt under a leather vest with a bunch of straps and pockets that ends up looking vaguely futuristic.

"How's the design process coming along?"

[Will Stanton]

"Um, alright--I think I got something..."

Will shifted again, this time to a sleaker cut. It was something that might have been more fashionable in the 1950s, but at least it wasn't a straight line cut.

"I think your mother would approve, yes?"

[Aria Nyx]

"Good lord, even Mom would think that's outdated!"

[Will Stanton]

"Well, what do you want? Something, uh, sleeker? It's a winter coat, you're not exactly going to get something that fits your curves or whathaveyou," Will said, shifting into something a BIT sleeker.

Current!Will apparently didn't have the fashion sense of future Will. At least, not Aria's fashion sense.

[Aria Nyx]

"No no no, put some straps across there, with a buckle." she says and starts pulling and shoving the fabric into place. "Zipper on the side, not the middle, take the waist in more and make the fabric less thick and bulky. And add two slits in the back for the wings but hide them behind a flap of fabric..."

[Will Stanton]

"Oh, right wings, duh..." Will said.

Aria's fingers operated like fine sewing needles and scissors, as Will bent and contorted himself as Aria instructed--a zipper here, a button there, different colors and fabrics. Within about three minutes, she had...well, it looked hideous by modern standards, but future fashions are apparently weird.

"...really?"

[Aria Nyx]

"Oh like you're one to talk Mister Jeans and T-shirt." she says as she slips the coat on. "Alright, adjust the fit and we're good to go!"

[Will Stanton]

"Um, alright..."

Will didn't get TOO snug--this was the bosses daughter, after all! And, if you believed Aria (which he still wasn't sure he did), she was his God's daughter, too! That's probably sacrilege.

[Aria Nyx]

"Perfect!" she says and with a dizzying and disorienting step she's gone.
