Ms. McManus waited patiently for her afternoon's appointment.

[Trini Thompson]

"You wanted to see me, Professor?"

[Samantha McManus]

"Aye. Have a seat, Miss..." she trailed off so the girl could lead on that one.

[Trini Thompson]

"Bludwynd," she said, firmly.

[Samantha McManus]

"Alright."

"Now as I understand it, there have been some... cultural differences?"

[Trini Thompson]

"Not on my part, professor."

[Samantha McManus]

"But all the same, I'd say we want to do what we can to try and relieve the friction here."

[Trini Thompson]

"I don't see how I've caused any friction, professor."

[Samantha McManus]

"You've no doubt noticed that Professor Weaver is a bit... old fashioned."

[Trini Thompson]

"I think you'll find, Professor, that you'll find she's actively infringing on my rights to practice my religion."

[Samantha McManus]

"And I've had a talk with her, about how you're not harming anyone."

[Trini Thompson]

"Well...good!"

[Samantha McManus]

"Honestly, we don't want this to be a hostile environment for anyone."

[Trini Thompson]

"She needs to set a better example -- she's supposed to be a professor!"

[Samantha McManus]

"I don't think she was quite prepared for someone who is as... strident as you."

[Trini Thompson]

"Well, she should be! Don't you have, like, diversity training?"

[Samantha McManus]

"We've a good deal of training, but I think you'll agree that the amount of diversity present on campus it's often difficult to address all possibilities."

"Regardless, I've made sure Professor Weaver is more than aware of your concerns."

[Trini Thompson]

"That's all I ask, that and a bit of respect!"

[Samantha McManus]

"I'm certain from this point forward she'll be mindful to moderate her tone."

[Trini Thompson]

"Well, good. She should know better! I mean, she's all mystical and stuff, people must have mocked her!"

[Samantha McManus]

"She's been... somewhat of a private person, until more recently."

[Trini Thompson]

"Well, duh, but still, that doesn't mean that she should be, y'know, lacking basic respect and stuff."

[Samantha McManus]

"I'm merely saying, her faith wasn't much of a public issue before."

[Trini Thompson]

"Well, yeah, but it's not like faith isn't, like, the only thing people can mock? You know?"

[Samantha McManus]

"If you mean her getting comments about how she looks, I'm not certain she's associated the two issues."

[Trini Thompson]

"Well, like, there's nothing wrong with that either? But you'd think she'd be more sensitive."

[Samantha McManus]

"Perhaps, but at the least I don't think this will have to come up again."

[Trini Thompson]

"Let's hope! It is her actions that will be the proof of the pudding, after all."
