Issue 1 Downtime

After only a little fretting and an inordinate amount of time spent getting ready on Nailah's part her and Sam are in line to be let into the club Sam had picked to go dancing. The two of them are already drawing looks though of very different kinds.

"That's not what I'm nervous about. But thanks..." she smiles.

"Maybe you should." she chuckles, extending her claws for a moment. She's still a bit antsy though and maybe not entirely unjustified because when they get to the entrance the bouncer takes a look at Nailah and raises one eyebrow.

"This is a joke, right?"

"Is there a problem here?" Samantha asked with a frown.

"Not at all. Go right ahead." he answers Sam. Either he didn't notice or doesn't care that the two of them arrived together.

"Alright then," she said as she took Nailah's hand and went to lead her inside.

And up goes one arm, blocking the way. "I meant you can go in. Not her."

"And why's that?" She asked, making eye contact with him, jaw set.

"Maybe we should just go somewhere else, Sam..." Nailah says quietly.

"You know how many people you just let in could be mutants and just didn't look like it?"

"Well lucky them then." he says and it doesn't take a telepath to notice that the thought makes him uncomfortable.

"So maybe it's time for you to rethink that policy, aye?" She said, tugging at that thought with her mind and inserting a dash of guilt.

"Don't come crying to me though." he says and hesitatingly lets the two pass.

She shook her head and went to lead Nailah in.

"That was you, wasn't it?" Nailah whispers once they're inside and out of earshot.

"Well he was being kind of a douche." she smiles slightly.

"Right. Well, thanks." she smiles, not entirely convinced apparently. And then they're in the club proper and regular conversation becomes a bit of an issue over the music.

Samantha seemed to come alive as they went into the club proper, feeling the beat as a broad grin spread across her face. She beckoned to Nailah as she headed out onto the floor.

Maybe not quite as enthusiastic but certainly willing to give it a try Nailah follows her, trying not to feel horribly out of place.

To start out, and perhaps to keep Nailah's comfort level high, she hadn't gone for couples dancing at first. For the moment, she just seemed to be reveling in the feel of the club and doing a few simple steps to the beat.

That probably was a good idea because for now Nailah seems to be plenty challenged with just finding a good way to move to the music. And after a couple minutes she doesn't even seem to be all that worried anymore, even if her dancing is still a little awkward.

It was Samantha's voice, though given the noise and the fact that her lips didn't move, Nailah could probably guess how it had reached her.

Nailah smiles at Sam, not entirely sure how to answer directly. And more and more she works through some of her inhibitions at least, especially when she notices that a lot of the people around her don't exactly go through highly complicated choreographies either.

She nods.

I didn't think it wouldn't be fun, just that it'd be more scary. she thinks to herself, wondering if Sam would be looking for an answer.

Oh okay, you are listening. she smiles and moves a little closer to Sam though she does keep a bit of a 'still dancing by herself' distance.

Nailah might feel a sensation like a hand on her cheek, though no such thing happened in the physical world.

"I didn't know you could do that..." she sends, her thoughts trailing off a bit before she clamps down on them, blushing faintly.
