The music's percussion was suddenly punctuated by the sound of blaster fire smashing through a wall close to them as they came past an impromptu security checkpoint that had been waiting in ambush in an unused room along the corridor.

The Shi'ar proved to be even greater philistines than Rob had anticipated. The guards waiting in ambush pressed their advantage, fanning out across the corridor to encircle the mutants, firing rather well-aimed shots quickly off at all of them.

A bolt of energy raked over the synth-flesh of Madrox's scalp as he performed an evasive flip, firing off a few repulsor shots before landing with a sweeping kick aimed at the nearest guard.

"Cease fire!" Rob shouts at Shi'ar, barely avoiding being missed by the shots, "Don't make us do something we'll regret later!"

The Shi'ar, whether out of spite or just training in on sound, turned their fire on Rob. Save for the one who Madrox had knocked over who was rolling backward to his feet, minus his weapon.

The shots ricocheted off of a shield of some sort, sparks flying from a band on Rob's wrist.

"Any time, team!" Rob says, "I don't want to make a running joke of getting shot on missions!"

"So just so we're clear, you can't do a damn thing to them?" Cal called back, holstering one gun to pull out his power staff. Activating the shield, he charged in, drawing their fire as he swung in low to knock the lead few off their feet.

Madrox kicked the weapon towards the head of a nearby Shi'ar and leapt at another with a roundhouse kick.

"Oh, by all means... take... your time!" Cal grunted, parrying a punch off his forcefield and jabbing his staff hard into a Shi'ar gut, following it by an upward strike to the chin.

Spikes ruptured out of Bobby's torso, as he jumped into a group of Shi'ar, swinging metal arms around in the shape of giant wrenches.

Rob takes out some test tubes, mixing some liquids quickly.

"Shi'ar...two parts...or was it....aww fuck it."

Rob shakes the beaker and tosses it at the guards, it erupts in a cloud of blue that hopefully acts as a powerful sedative for the Shi'ar.

There would be the sound of coughing through the cloud, from the Shi'ar and anyone else in there who had to breathe. But when it dissipated a moment later, the X-Men would find themselves standing, in good health, among a bunch of Shi'ar who appeared to be stoned off their asses and completely incapable of continuing the fight.

Quickly, he led the group through the corridors and down to the engine rooms.

"Try to subdue and restrain anyone in the engine room," Rob says, "Madrox and Bobby? You'll watch our backs. Calvin, I need you to disengage any safety systems internally."

"I'll take care of rigging the engine."

"Right," Cal said, skidding a bit as they took a fast corner toward the engine room. "Someone get the doors so I don't have any firing delay.

"I've got that," Rob says, slapping on something that looks like playdough onto the door.

"Step back," Rob says, taking out a remote and moving to the side, "Fire in the hole!"

And with that, Rob blows the doors open.

The engineers in the engine room were... well, engineers, not soldiers. As such, they really didn't have much of a fight to put up. A few of them were taken out by the volley of blasters, the few that were left were babbling in Shi'ar and making unmistakeable surrendering gestures.

Apparently, taking a room full of mechanics wasn't as hard as taking a room full of soldiers.

"...Got it," Rob says, heading over to a panel and beginning to get to work, "Get those safeties offline. We'll have this ship in the palm of our hands in five minutes."
