Forced diplomacy

Ryan, accompanied by Rachel, Tommy, Valdis, John, Taliyah, and Melody, led the way out of their appropriated command center. "Keep a mental link with Cap's team ready," he told Rachel. "And you keep a link with Doc's team open. Let me know if they have some way to cut off your wireless," he told Taliyah. "We run into resistance on our way, we don't fight unless surrendering won't take us to the commander. Best case, we don't start anything, but if we do, you hit hard and you don't stop until we decide it's enough."

Taliyah would notice intraship communications about the crew from a section of the ship not responding. They flitted back and forth with increasing alarm, and she could see a request for a security team to investigate, routed through the hallway they were traveling via.

An officer came down the hallway, his rank denoted by his plumage. He was flanked by four Shi'ar marines in armor.

"...intruders!"

The marines all trained their weapons on the group.

"Hands where I can see them!" The officer barked.

"Ah," Ryan said. "Yeah, I was kind of worried that we'd run across a problem like that," he said. And without anything further, those open palms blasted a wide, blinding blast at the guards to catch the closest and blind the rest. "Plan B, guys!"

John blew frosty energy at the ground at the enemy's feet, trying ruin their footing. He proceeded to also rush ahead and slam his fists against the same ground.

Melody formed dozens of tiny bombs and hurled them like explosive marbles at the oncoming guards as they rushed over the now icy terrain.

The marines ducked under the fire, only to find they were starting to lose their footing from the ice. Struggling to remain standing while they were being fired upon by Rachel and Ryan, it was just plain ugly for them by the time Valdis' shockwaves hit.

Ryan looked down at the downed Shi'ar, shaking his head. "Well, it was a good plan. All right, time for the hard way. We make it to the command center, and either they talk to us or we hold them out until the ship's taken over." If Rob pulls it off...

"Team, report! Report!! Ah, blast..."

"That's too close to command. Ready forces and double-check all security codes!"
