[Issue 11] Let the Wild Rumpus Start

Scenes taking place outside of London or Muir, but still on the Islands.

[Issue 11] Let the Wild Rumpus Start

Postby Narrator » Fri Nov 30, 2012 4:22 pm

The information brought back by the teams was more than enough to pinpoint the location of Kraven's 'wildlife preserve', and the Blackbird was able to drop a team outside.

It certainly LOOKED innoccuous enough from the outside, fenced off, but without any out-of-the ORDINARY security measures, apart from no obvious entrance.

"OK, field leaders, what do you see? What's going on?" Will said over their earpieces, still not in good enough kip to actually return to fieldwork.

Renko started walking, as stealthily as he could, towards the fence so he could get a better look at it.

That is a bloody big fence

Nick floated above them, using binoculars to get a good look.

"I see fog. Lots of fog," he transmitted with an annoyed grumble, "Give us a chance to look will ya?"

Bear nodded, then squinted as her X-ray vision kicked in, trying to peer through the wall, looking for a clue.

"Getting a reading on anything is difficult in that pea soup..."

"Something's jamming our scanners, too. Closer, you're in charge in the field there. You're going to have to go in there and physically get our people out.

I don't suppose anyone has any experience tracking."

Rachel would be getting...chaos. To put it mildly.

Bear nodded, returning to the drop ship and returning with a box of slim, small mouth and nose masks with rebreathers.

"okay, everyone grab one.. We're going in, despite the fuzziness of the situation. Our friends need us."

Bear gritted her teeth, moving to the wall.

"Okay, prepare to breach. We go in quick, subdue, rescue, and get back out. We do not spend one second more in there then we have to."

Trev cracked his knuckles nervously as he went over the fence.

Yes...he should've just done that last time. Damnit. he thought, recalling how poorly he climbed over the last time.

"Can we tell exactly how many people are in here--our team and otherwise?" he said as they pushed through the woods in the fog.

Perhaps disturbingly, Rachel could sense one of the presences was moving towards them with a fair amount of determination.

John's large black animal form slid between the trees, obscured by fog as he drew ever closer.

Rachel might have noticed that the incoming mind was a battlefield of conflicting emotions. The only clear thoughts were of hunger.

Rachel reached into John's mind, looking for a way to calm him down, or just to keep him immobile.

Renko's gauntlets started to glow as he waited for whatever was wandering around in the 'fog' to show itself.

"I hate this game," Renko muttered as he looked around.

The part of John's mind that could be reasoned with was the losing side and his anatomy wasn't quite like any animal Rachel knew of; part crocodile, part... something else. Figuring out how to immobilization may take some time.

Noticing the intrusion, John bound out on legs that seemed more mammalian than reptilian. He went straight for Rachel, roaring savagely.

The creature would find itself pelted with steel balls- not hard enough to do any lasting damage (yet) but certainly enough to distract from his current target.

"Come on, walk-a-dile. Walk with me."
