[Issue 11] Trails

Postby Narrator » Fri Nov 23, 2012 2:07 pm

As Chloe and Kay got out into the woods, they could see that some of the other prisoners had been... less than subtle in their retreat. At least two trails of obvious destruction were visible, even in the fog.

Chloe paused for a moment, as she spotted the trails, and glanced back at Kay.

The noises were distracting, even from a distance. Some of those released seemed to be staking out territory, and by the bellows that echoed occasionally, there were disputes.

As Kay and Chloe got deeper into the forest, something shifted in the undergrowth, obscured by the fog. Apparently taking notice of them, it bellowed a challenge.

Oh bugger. Chloe thought I need to stay calm, stay in control, meat is bad, meat is gross. And I need to fight that. She took a deep breath, then let out a loud hiss, puffing up her feathers.

The creature snorted, and then lurched out of the fog and into their view. It was hard to see if it was wearing a collar.

Kay, having never seen much wildlife outside the zoo (much less up close and in a creepy forest some weirdo brought her to) let's out a scream as the huge, noise-making thing steps out of the brushes.

With a scream of pure dino-rage, Chloe leaped up onto the stag's back, grabbing on with her rear claws while her front claws and teeth savaged the creature's back.

This was not, frankly, a tactic the stag was used to encountering. It made an alarmed, pained cry as it bucked to try to dislodge Chloe. The smell of blood was in the air...

Kay screams again, louder, and backs away from the chaos of blood and feathers and the screams of the stag.

Chloe dug in harder to avoid being bucked off, and bit down as hard as she could on the stag's neck, trying to sever the spine.

Which certainly did the job, as the stag collapsed in a heap.

Chloe let out a savage roar, and took a huge bite out of the stag's throat. She swallowed it whole, blood lust drowning out everything else. She took a second bite, savoring the taste of What am I doing?!? NO! NO! NO! I hate meat, meat is disgusting. I do not eat meat. No! No! No! She spat out the second bite, and, looking rather ashamed, tried to clean the blood off her maw.

Kay turns around to run when Chloe takes the first bite, but she doesn't make it very far, stumbling over a root or shrubbery in the darkness. She crawls a couple more feet but then just rolls up into a whimpering ball under a bush.

Oh bugger. Chloe said to herself I must have scared her. she tried to wipe off the worst of the blood on her claws. She sniffed the air, trying to get Kay's scent, and, with a slightly regretful glance at the stag No, no. Meat is bad, meat is yucky. X-men do not eat their enemies. Chloe padded off to find Kay.

She wouldn't be hard to find with the smell of fear coming off of her. She's still cowering, trying to calm herself down. People eat game all the time. Dad went hunting a couple times. I've had some of what they brought back. People eat animals all the time...

Chloe stood in front of the bush, head down, trying not to look like a dinosaur who had just killed and eaten, well, not really eaten, per se, but definately taken a bite, a small bite, out of a deer. The blood might make this look less than convincing.

The further they got into the woods, the more they started to see signs of foraging. It was no longer random destruction such as the trails of those who had barreled out of the cages, but it was still something fairly large that had upended a few logs.

The scent of bear was fairly pervasive. The creature seemed to have staked out a fairly large territory in its foraging.
