"Oh good," Ryan said, "We were having so much fun, one more will make it even better. Why don't you come say hello, I never got the chance while you were hiding."

"Such anger," the man chuckled, bending over as he deposited the winged one into the waiting pen.

"It will serve you," he said before swinging the pen's door closed and locking it again.

"Oh? This is usually where you'd say you're going to pluck me until you get whatever you want. I figured you'd want 'afraid,'" he said dryly.

"Afraid?" He laughed again.

"Oh no my fine bird of prey, you surely mistake me."

He stepped forward through the mist, and from one of the unseen pens something large growled, its immense bulk clashing against the bars.

"Ha! This one understands. This one is ready."

He continued closer to those from the institute, his features finally visible as the mist parted around him.

"Soon you all will be," he said with a manic grin.

Ryan stood, silent a moment as he stared at the man. Then he scowled, wishing he had something to throw at the wall. "Ah, shit..."

"Be patient," he chuckled.

"You will get your chance."

He turned and walked back into the mist, heading for the end of the pens.

"All right, I'll bite. How are you justifying this to yourself?"

He paused near the end of the row of pens.

"Justify?"

A long, raucous laugh echoed through the mist.

"Oh, when have such as we needed to justify, my bird of prey?"

Shortly after, the sound of the heavy latch sliding back into place was heard.

Ryan sighed. Then he closed his eyes and opened his power to "see" the lifeforce around him... Or mostly to see if anything would happen with an unobtrusive use of power.

That done, Ryan started to faintly glow, if only to push back the chill. He made sure to stay very still as he did, working it up gradually.

"Steph? Is that you?" Ryan called. "Okay, they aren't triggered by powers. I wouldn't really bet that if we tried breaking out or getting them off that they wouldn't do anything, though."

As Stephanie came 'round she smelled several scents in the pens nearby. Some familiar, some not. At least one of the scents... seemed to be coming from a rather large bear, from what she could identify of it. Over all of it was the pervasive mist, which had a scent that was rather hard to place.

Her wolf was... agitated, to put it kindly.

Steph sounded drunk or like she was still shaking off whatever drugs kept her out on her trip here.

A bellowing grunt sounded from a pen near Stephanie, followed by a snort.

"Diosa mia... Wo bin ich? Quelqu'un va payer pour ce." Nailah mumbles as the most recent addition to the menagerie pushes herself up from the floor, swaying for a moment before she manages to steady herself on the bars of the cage. Still groggy she looks around.

It was hard to concentrate. Hard to focus her thoughts beyond the now. The movement in the other pens was distracting.

"Will you sit still!" she turns her head back and forth at the movement behind the mist, unsure if it's the students there or the bear or who knows what. She's absentmindedly running her hand over the collar, realizing it's presence at Steph's comment but not really sure what to make of it.

Steph growled in annoyance, pushing herself up off the floor and rubbing what was left of her clothes. She'd shredded them fighting off whoever nabbed her. At least she had a full collection of unstable molecule undergarments.
