Sara nods and thanks Madrox when he finds a bag and starts gently placing the tubes in it.

"We will look."

"But if it gets too dangerous, we will have to leave and come back with more people," Elena said from where she was still watching the hallway.

I don't even want to think about this mission getting more dangerous than that...thing.

Stephanie nodded, grabbing a back of...well, Will to help carry to the surface. "We'll get all of these containers onto the jet, and go scout around a little bit more. Madrox, this place isn't a ticking time bomb, is it? I read about what happened on the boat...?"

Whatever the smell was, it seemed to have died down--for now --- and the deathly silence continued.

Something WRONG had happened here.

"That's almost all of them."

Stephanie shivered. "This place is just...wrong...in every possible way. If we're loaded up we should look around a bit more and then get out of here."

"They must have gotten away with some..." she says, hoping they didn't realize or care which part held Will's consciousness and that it was among the ones they recovered.

This next room was much more lab-like -- a lot of workbenches, a lot of closed off and well shielded rooms for more in depth experiments, the like. Rows of chemicals and tools lined the various workstations -- Science was done here, and a lot of it.

The room was lined with many smaller doors leading off into what looked like individual work rooms -- some had long, operating-style tables and equipment in it, others were more empty. There was one with what looked like a giant fuck-off-laser.

Sitting against the back wall, however, was something NOT very sciency. It was a cube, about 10 feet long in each direction, made out of some kind of black, volcanic stone, covered in deeply carved patterns (patterns, it should be noted, that Maddie's database could not recognize). On one side is a door. In the center of the door sat a huge, old lock, with twenty other, smaller locks, around the edges.

None of them were locked at this point in time.

That's where the smell was coming from, for those of us with more advanced noses.

Keeping a hand on the cube she walks around to the door and carefully tries to pull it open.

The door was unlocked, and a gust of super cold air burst out -- freezing, chilling people to the bone.

Inside the cube was a coffin, about 7 feet tall, held in place and closed with a number of thick, heavy chains.

"I've had it with these sick fucks..."

The cube is eaten away as Sara pulls it's substance into herself, her frame bulking up until she's just a hulking mass of rock that reaches for the chains to rip them off.

The chains groaned and squeaked under Sara's strain, but they were no match for massive, ancient stone Sara.

Inside the coffin was a horrible creature, identical to the one they had just fought in the hallway. It showed no sign of damage from any attacks -- nor any sign of a heartbeat or anything of that nature.

She wasn't quite sure what she'd find, but somehow she was prepared for something horrible so she grabs it with the intent of slamming it into what's left of one of the walls.

The thing didn't react at first, as Sara pulled it out of it's coffin and slung it into the wall, hard.

Then, it took a first, shuddering breath, and began pulling itself to it's feet.

This time, the laser seemed to reflect off of the thing's surface, impacting on the side, and as it drew to it's feet, it easily smashed Steph to one side.

"Steph!"

Good job, idiot. Maddie warned you but you just had to ignore everything and let this thing out...

Pushing more mass into one of her arms she takes a swing at the monster.

Elena's blasts still had some effect, destabilizing the thing's feet, but the crowded nature of the box make it hard for her to get a great shot off.

Sara would find HERSELF pinned against the wall after a surge from the Thing.

Steph had flown across the room from the creature's smack, breaking several cubicles in her path before slamming into the hard wall and falling onto the ground with a whimper. She made several attempts to push herself back up but her everything hurt too much and she was seeing stars, so she slumped back to the floor to regain some composure.

She appeared, for the moment at least, to be down for the count.

The gambit worked! The thing quickly found it's whippin' arm trapped in the stone, and it was pelted by blasts from both Maddie and Elena.

It howled again, turning around, and tried to go after the people it could still see -- but it stopped, being trapped by the rock.

Sara draws in more stone to make sure the thing won't rip it's tentacle out of the stone again to allow the others to take it down.

The thing was, in fact, pulling at the stone, but that wasn't what was giving way, as a sick tearing sound began to come from the thing's joint.
