Name: Lora Zalesky
Codename: N/A; formerly, Defiler and Famine
Age: 21
Country of Origin: Ukraine
Power: Former - Acid generation; Lora's body generated a highly corrosive, reddish-purple acid, primarily released through a large pore on the palm of each hand.
Current - Thanks to modifications made on her powerset by En Sabah Nur, Lora's body now generates an inky, black nanite fluid that has several effects, depending on what substance it comes into contact with. It melts non-organic material, much like her acid once did; it withers and consumes plant matter, allowing it to spread; and it creates a weakening hunger sensation on humans and other members of Kingdom Animalia.
Personality: Lora believes in both working hard and playing hard. She's fun-loving, often going out on the town or being seen in the XUBs. At the same time, she's serious and hard-working when she knows she has to put her mind to a task. She's highly intelligent and capable, though on the outside she seems bubbly and flirtatious. Thanks to her upbringing, Lora has been ardently pro-mutant and mutant supremacist, though she's prudent enough to know when to keep her political opinions to herself.
The trauma that she has undergone since her transformation into Famine has changed her, but the full result of this has yet to be seen.
Physical description: 5'7", with a nice, curvy, femme fatale body. She once had auburn hair and red-tinged eyes, but both have become black thanks to changes in her physiology. The readily visible thick veins and apertures on and around her hand are still there, but now look black instead of reddish.
Background: Lora was born to mutant parents living in Kiev. Both had physical mutations, and her father's is very obvious, which made holding a normal job and finding much acceptance somewhat difficult. Seeing the hard time they had of things deeply affected Lora as she grew up. By the time she was 13, her family migrated to Moscow, so that they could live among the large mutant community gathered there. Lora found herself immersed within the mutant subculture, and not long after that, her mutation manifest itself (to her parents' joy). Her parents soon became very influential in Moscow's mutant underground. Though Lora was already attending college at Moscow State University, she immediately transferred to the Xavier's London campus upon its opening.
The summer break after her first year at Xavier's proved to be fateful. A man named Moskvin, a leader of Moscow's mutant community, tried to trick Lora's father and his men into fighting another boss of the city's mutant underground, named Fedorov. The ploy was discovered at the last second, and Mr. Zalesky and Fedorov quickly joined forces against Moskvin in retaliation. Though her father managed to keep his place of power, Lora's faith in mutantkind was shaken. When Apocalypse offered her the mantle of Famine soon after, she didn't hesitate to accept it.
She has since been restored to her previous mindset, En Sabah Nur's brainwashing having been undone. Guilt, shame, and having her mind probed every which way by Cassiel has left her a changed woman, however. Right now, she's trying to manage life one day at a time.
