- Oka is essentially sentient darkness. Direct exposure to enough light can cause his body to become somewhat unstable and also causes Oka to feel a considerable amount of discomfort.
- Darkness Manipulation: He can use this on his own body to make it more solid, change it's shape, etc. He has shown the ability to control the darkness/shadows around him, but this ability is still in its nascent stages.

Personality: Oka was a quite nice, generous, and really just all around good guy. However, his traumatic first experiences with his powers and the fact that he now needs to walk around inside of a suit has made him slightly less of all of those things.

Description: Oka outside his suit looks entirely nondescript lacking any defining features. This is due to Oka's imperfect control over his abilities. Otherwise when he's outside of his room he wears a full body containment suit complete with a tinted visor. All of these things are meant to keep Oka from experiencing the extreme discomfort caused by exposure to direct sunlight.

Background: Oka lived a fairly normal life until he turned 14. Until then he'd grown up in a family that wanted to continue traditional Hawaiian culture and values. He surfed, swam, played sports (football), and did moderately well in school. It changed one summer when he became very ill. He came down with a high-fever, became exceptionally sensitive to any amount of light, and he felt like something was tearing him apart from the inside. He came to in a dark hospital room feeling numb as he reached for the nurse call button. He tried to pick it up, but the button fell through his hand. He tried to scream but he couldn't make any sound. He tried to look at his hand and looked through it. The next few days were frantic at the hospital as the hospital staff struggled to find their missing patient. Oka for his part was simply trying to get their attention, but he was finding that bright light was rather uncomfortable until one day frustrated and desperate to communicate with people in the hospital he discovered how to make his body solid temporarily. He began knocking over trays of instruments in darkened# operating rooms, throwing charts, and basically making a nuisance of himself. However, while people in the hospital appeared to be concerned was not sure how to respond to reports of trays of instruments being thrown about in otherwise empty operating rooms. When the disturbances continued and grew more destructive the hospital contacted X-Corp who sent a consultant. They discovered the young mutant inside the hospital and a very relieved Oka was taken to the closest X-Corp facility. X-Corp trained him to be able to maintain his shape, which worked well in dark rooms but quite poorly in well lit areas. X-Corp decided that Oka would likely be best served by wearing a protective suit until he was better able to control his abilities. X-Corp sponsored Oka's application to Xavier's Institute. Both Oka, his family, and X-Corp hoped that more experienced hands would have better luck helping him.

Retcon notes: Complete power change to give room for development of abilities alongside character development.

I see some overlap with Onyx, but only in the thematic sense, so I've got no problems with this app as it stands.
