Around the back of the house

Roland had cleared a space, and was having a small bonfire in a rapidly-constructed pit out back of the faculty housing.

"This seems a little excessive for a barbeque." Nailah says from one of the second story windows, leaning out and looking down at Roland's fire.

[Roland Sackville]

"Barbecue is overrated!" he called up.

[Nailah Weaver]

"Then what in the name of... Are those books?" she interrupts herself as she sees a smoldering page or two get caught in the updraft.

[Roland Sackville]

"I would have to say no, they are not."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Really? I would have thought you of all people would know better." she says as she jumps out the window and, slowed by her unfolding wings, snatched one of the half-burned pages out of the air.

"History books? Is this some kind of statement about inaccurate records?"

[Roland Sackville]

The page talked briefly about Mount Poyang, and then smoldered.

"I'd be careful if I were you -- those are probably hot off the presses."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Hilarious. Maybe I'm not one to talk, but you're not setting the best example for the students here, wouldn't you say?"

[Roland Sackville]

"I'm trying, actually, to set a reasonable example."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Please go ahead and enlighten me then."

[Roland Sackville]

"...no, I don't think I will."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Some example you're setting then. Where are those from anyway?"

[Roland Sackville]

"I believe you will find that they are mine."

[Nailah Weaver]

"And you brought them with you just to burn them here. Right. Please tell me they're not from the mansion's library at least."

[Roland Sackville]

"Of course they aren't. Those aren't mine."

[Nailah Weaver]

"For a history professor you don't seem to be particularly fond of history." Nailah shakes her head.

[Roland Sackville]

"Books are not history, Professor."

[Nailah Weaver]

"It's what the majority of people have regarding history."

[Roland Sackville]

"If that's your view of history, I think you need to take my introductory course. I'm sure you could find a seat between the robot and the fake witch."

[Nailah Weaver]

"I'm not saying those books are right, but burning them seems rather excessive just because you disagree with them."

[Roland Sackville]

"Believe what you would like, professor."

[Nailah Weaver]

"I do, but that's besides the point. I'm just not a big fan of destroying knowledge."

[Roland Sackville]

"Knowledge can't be destroyed."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Then what are you doing here?" she responds, resisting the urge to throw her arms up.

[Roland Sackville]

"Enjoying the night air, Nailah. Just enjoying the night air."

[Nailah Weaver]

"Have fun then. Pleasure talking to you." she rolls her eyes.
